Default Facebook stock (NASDAQ: FB)

So who's been keeping up with this? After a lackluster debut on Friday after a profit of only 23 cents, the stock has dropped to $33.61 (down -$4.62(-12.09%) - so far.

I'm on and off on buying stock, but wasn't interested in buying Facebook stock since there's nothing to back it up. Going to be a while before it goes back above its IPO ($38).

the price of FB stock is directly proportional to changes in the layout that mildly inconvenience people

I don't see FB stock doing well at all. It's been overvalued for ages and with the constant site changes and privacy issues they've pretty much lost all the goodwill they started with. Honestly, I kind of feel like as soon as there's a sufficiently good alternative people will leave the site by the millions.

The chance of this booming is the chance that everyone will suddenly know how tinker with the privacy settings.

No wonder Mark didn't want Facebook to go public. Still, I can see the company come out of it if they market to the right people; just not at the detriment of it's customers.

facebook still has a long way to go before it becomes a sure bet, i wouldnt put any money into it until i started to see TV adds and not just a car company saying contact us on facebook, im talking about a real facebook commercial something to show me that this company has a path or a direction, without that how can the market support a company like this that refuses to put full page adds and has constant trouble with privacy related issues.

What do you mean? I hope you're not suggesting Facebook would be more successful with full page ads. I would quit and never go back. I almost can't even handle what youtube does. This is the internet, FFS.

Also in general stocks based on a company that only makes money from ad space is yeah. I'm with the "this will implode" crowd.

Zuckerberg has essentially suckered millions into taking his company public... the company has experienced just about all the growth it can expect to see - at least in the short term. The underwriters got a bit greedy with the pricing as well, which is typical of Wall Street. Anyone who knows anything about investing will stay away from Facebook, at least in the short term. The thing that separates Facebook from other large tech firms (which are completely volatile stocks in the first place) like Google, Apple, Oracle, Microsoft etc. is that Facebook doesn't make any products - they're simply data collectors/huge advertising medium for other companies to market their products. Again, there are a few areas for growth in FB (mobile, China, etc.) but not many. I wouldn't touch the stock for a year at least. Facebook's reputation prior to the IPO had a huge effect on it's initial public pricing - investment bankers capitalized on that.
