so I've been replaying older pokemon games because they are pretty decent and I'm playing pearl, which you may recall is both A) full of pretty poor design choices and B) has the neat journal feature that reminds you what you've been doing

this savage little journal is telling me that "Hearthome Gym was too tough" because YOU AREN'T ALLOWED TO TAKE IT ON RIGHT AWAY
so I walked in and back out

I have 6 water type pokemon that are gonna decimate cynthia's roserade
