So do you prefer the freedom of movement the controller provided over a keyboard?

Also I imagine the energy exerted is higher in the controllers case so it's probably a more fulfilling feeling getting a nice score like that than say a few of your high index scores?

That was cool to see though, I'm really interested in seeing where you take it

one thing I've noticed as I've grown physiologically is that my fingers are simply too large to move across a keyboard.

a major factor in why I can't beat my old Stepmania AAAs is something that I didn't realize until I played on larger buttons: my fingers are simply fucking larger than when I was 15-16. back then my fingers were thin enough to not trip up on each other. my hands are actually FASTER than they were before, measurably, but now I simply don't have enough room for movement.

yes, a lot more

I don't even come close to sweating while playing Stepmania index, but doing it this way I actually want to drink water after 20-30 minutes of really hard songs.

a really hard 4-minute song is comparable to two sets of 12-rep bench press in how exhausted it makes me. I'd say if I played the 1.6x sped-up Motteke Serafuku theme back-to-back it'd be equal to about this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iEA3hoyEA1M which puts playing Stepmania this way at about 200-300 calories/hour (so, not a lot, but definitely not the stepmania you're used to)

once I have more free time+money I have plans for custom charts. the issue right now of course is that I use my free time to make money.

I'd really like to give that try. I have plenty of free time on my hands so maybe I could make myself a controller and give it a shot.

It's too bad this seems so niche; this could be almost a little Renaissance for index files
