Default Rocking FFR at Nekocon 2007

Ok, since I live in Virginia Beach and don't have the access to take long ass trips to other states for conventions (that changes July 5th though), I've managed to make it out to Virginia's own anime convention, Nekocon. Anyone in Virginia has heard of it since it's one of the biggest on the East Coast. Well, the information for this year has popped up and it will be held like last year in Hampton, Virginia. Hampton is about a 45 minute to an hour drive from where I live and I usually stay the entire weekend. FFR can contact the sponsors of Nekocon and get a special section set up for them. Nekocon includes:

- Video Game Tournaments
- Cosplay and Cosplay Competition
- LAARPing
- Dealer's Room (Huge ass warehouse size room with nothing but merchandise)
- AMV Competitions
- Say Nani? Karaoke Contest (I'll be singing this year. ^_^)
etc.

THis could be a good chance for the Mid-east to South-east FFRers to come and snag a nifty button. More information can be found here:

www.nekocon.com

Peace. =P

However, Otakon is in August; this is in November. November 2-4 to be exact. Also, I just sent a message to Nekocon staff about seeing if it even possible to have a setup at Nekocon. Expect a message back soon.

Yeah, this will bring the chance for Mid to southeast coast people to see FFR in all it's glory. Plus I might be able to give rides. =P

What was the point of that? Yes, there are alot of conventions going on in Texas. You have your own post in the ideas thread. Don't come into mine and think that posting a list is going to better your chance of an anime convention in Texas over Virginia. You should be thanking God I didn't make a thread for Otakon because Otakon > any convention in Texas automatically.

http://www.otakon.com/history_stats.asp

vs.

Texas' Largest Convention: A-Kon
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/A-Kon

No contest. Also for a little more salt in the wounds:

Largest North American Anime conventions of 2006

Calculation methods used from con to con may be different. Some conventions report just paid attendance while others report "total attendance". A "total attendance" figure would count all people with a badge including paid attendees, staff, guests, dealers, and others.[1]

1. Anime Expo - 40,647 total, 32,930 paid
2. Otakon - 32,902 estimated total, 22,302 paid
3. A-Kon - 12,500 estimated paid
4. Anime North - 12,500 total, 11,286 paid
5. Anime Central - 11,500 estimated total
6. FanimeCon - 10,000 estimated paid
7. Anime Weekend Atlanta - 8,949 paid
8. Anime Boston - 9,354 total, estimated 8,854 paid
9. Sakura-Con - 8,300 estimated total, 7,500 estimated paid
10. Katsucon - 6,400 estimated total, 5,664 paid

Contest? Oh dear god no, I'm not trying to compete with Texas over VA, the dates on the conventions aren't even competing. Therefore, we could have both.

And I posted the link because there are other conventions in VA that may be more convenient than Nekocon. No need to get bent outta shape for me supporting both ideas.

There is more than one convention in Virginia, but the biggest in-state would have to be Nekocon. Sorry if I blew up, but if you would like to share your idea for a Texas FFR convention, make a new thread about it.

Virginia is doable for me as long as I have time and money for it. Let us know if the convention peeps get back with you.

Definitely has to be one here in Virginia, which would be cool. :3!
And lots of people here too, I guess. Personally, I've never been to any anime convention, so.. we'll see.

Nyokou, I ca show you the wonders of an anime convention. All I have to say is stay close to me, or be glomped by unknown strangers. O_O

>_>; In fact, I'd rather not get glomped by anyone.
But uhm, if I do go, which is probably 95% yes, then, I guess I'll stick close to someone. D: I don't know, but, uh, some fans are just really creepy from what I've seen on YouTube.

I haven't been to any convention yet, but I'm planning to go to Nekocon this year since I live close by. I can't wait, but I don't really know how it's supposed to work. I mean as do you just go home when it's over for with that day then come back the next day again?

No it runs over an entire weekend from Friday Noon to Sunday afternoon. Since you can buy tickets on what day you want to go at or for the entire weekend, it depends. The stuff in the Dealer's Room is regular on Friday, EXPENSIVE on Saturday (which is the busiest day of the Con), and cheap as hell by Sunday. Of course most of the good stuff is gone by Sunday so you better have so money saved.

I was going to buy a Goth Lolita dress worn by Gackt in a concert for $100 but then I bought an M4A1 Airsoft Rifle. ^^
