Batch reviews' vocabulary
In the recent batch review, there are some words that left me clueless, such as:
- (jump)Jacks; - Minijacks; - PR; - Layers; - FMO, FSO, FGO; - Etc. What do they refer to? |

Jumpjacks:
Jumping while masturbating Minijacks: It's a pretty good cereal PR: Personal Record. Maybe you should submit a screenshot with your submission! Layers: Onions have layers, Ogres have layers! Your file needs to smell more like an onion. FMO: For Morons Only FSO: Solo files. FFR doesn't have this, so ignore it. FGO: It means your file is rejected. ETC is not a stepmania turn though. |

Re: Batch reviews' vocabulary
The FFR Picture Dictionary
The above link provides terminology to a lot of patterns you see in simfiles. PR = pitch relevency. Imagine playing an instrument. Arrows should follow a pattern according to how they sound in the relative sense of musical pitch. Layers = combining multiple patterns into one, which almost always mean that you're incorporating multiple instruments/sources simultaneously when stepping. FMO/FGO = For Masters Only/For Gurus Only. Terminology that pertains to the difficulties of certain songs on FFR. Numerically, FMOs are rated as an 11/13 in difficulty and FGOs are rated as a 12/13 in difficulty. |

Re: Batch reviews' vocabulary
Yeah, it's very hard to get used to those terms especially if you don't go on the forums much or play the game online. You might wanna go here if you want to know the terms for every kinds of patterns in the game. Also, if you want to know possibly every single kinds of terms ever mentioned in the game then you might wanna go here but i warn you, it's a LONG read!

jacks - when you have one note over and over, like 11111, jumpjacks are jacks using jumps (2 arrows at a time) minijacks - when you have the same note repeated once, like 11223344 PR - pitch relevancy - where you correspond the patterns to the pitch of the notes, like if you have an ascending scale, using 1234 layering - stepping multiple things at the same time which usually ends up in jumps and hands FMO etc - For Masters Only etc, the difficulties in FFR etc - et cetera, that's not an FFR term, that's latin

PR stands for pitch relevance, which is where you consciously and intelligently pick patterns or specific columns according to specific pitches or progressions of pitches. typical examples are: going left = descending, going right = ascending, same column = same pitch, but it's a bit of an artform for anything that uses more than four pitches layers is where you place down arrows for one instrument, then arrows for the next instrument and so on, thus forming jumps when they 'collide'. -FMO is for masters only, or difficulty 11/12. FGO is 12/12. dunno what FSO is
