Re: hi19hi19's Delicious Custom Theme Tournament
I always find the side games more fun than the tourney anyways (not saying the tourneys aren't fun,) so this makes me happy :')

It starts out in "struggle to SDG" territory and advances into "I feel like I can FC this but it will take a lot of tries" territory and the finals are "well, I can read it. Mostly." The [Dump] chart was really a dump, only the D5 finals is going to be that hard as far as legit tournament files go.

Oh while we're at it, here's another teaser
This is a shot of the file's really funky solo section. Lots of good rhythms!

Re: hi19hi19's Delicious Custom Theme Tournament
I was really hoping for D3B because there was no other scores for the Spon contest. I'm just wondering if you're going to wait until the end of the tournament to send the credits ?

Re: hi19hi19's Delicious Custom Theme Tournament
With the credit pot getting so absurdly large (probably one of the largest "legit" pots for a custom tournament ever?) I figured it would be nice to address exactly how the credits will be given out.
My thoughts were to have about 1/2 the pot be for final payout, 1/3 of the pot be for individual round scoring, and roughly 1/6 of the pot be for side games. I'm definitely sticking with individual round scoring- I like the way you can win at any time, even if you've fallen behind overall. Plus it suitably rewards people who are absurdly good at one pattern but weak at others (people who are pro at jacking and only jacking come to mind heh) And I am doing division-blind payouts. It always bothered me when D5 would get more credits than D1 just... because. I think that if you try your hardest and win, then you get the same prize as someone else who tried their hardest and won in another division. Not debating that. That said: qqwref had a nice chat about the scoring system and he mentioned that he would prefer a "tournament points" system to cumulative scoring. The advantages of this (I would be using a 90% point system just like devonin is using in his FFR league) are numerous: - prevents the first rounds from feeling like they "don't really count" - weights different skills more evenly, such as PAing vs comboing - people who crush their division in one file for whatever reason are rewarded for doing so already by individual round scoring, so that is less of an issue What are people's opinion on me switching from cumulative scoring to a tournament point structure?

Re: hi19hi19's Delicious Custom Theme Tournament
I would prefer cumulative scoring.
Although I also enjoy elimination tourneys. |

Re: hi19hi19's Delicious Custom Theme Tournament
My proper Brutality Tournaments went by Tournament Points. The first two went by cumulative scoring and basically the guy who was in the lead got crushed a shitload by the last round.
I find it better to use Tournament Points in this case so that way there isn't that unfair advantage (and this isn't elimination either!). I also think tournament points will encourage more submissions since my Hip Hop Tournament had a severe submission problem. Also dammit why isn't there a sidebar on the main FFR page already that lists the current tournaments |

It doesn't make a difference to me, as long as it works out fair in the end.

Re: hi19hi19's Delicious Custom Theme Tournament
Yeah I am strongly considering making the change. The later rounds get much harder than the first 3 rounds and it would be weird if it felt like the first rounds "didn't count"
and btw: oh sftu and start practicing already :P Sympathy meter: empty
