Wrists raised or planted
I looked around and couldnt really find a similar thread so here I go..
For the longest time I played ffr with my wrists raised(like floating in the air) but I have a bigger desk now and decided to play with my wrists planted for a while to see if it helped. I've come to notice that my pa is getting better much faster with them planted but sometimes i feel my speed is somewhat limited. The point of this thread is to find out what other players play style is and why they like it.

Re: Wrists raised or planted
Subin where about is your arm planted? Like near your elbow? Or closer to your wrists because now that I am taking a closer look at my own I notice its about 2 or 3 inches back from my wrist that my arm is planted.

Re: Wrists raised or planted
Supposedly I've heard that keeping your wrists flat aggravates the risk for carpal tunnel syndrome - since the natural position is slightly bent downwards keeping them raised allows you to maintain that, whereas keeping them lowered appears to put additional strain on your wrists. That's my own experience anyways - unlike though subin I also keep my arm bent in the air to allow for extra mobility, especially during those moments where I need a bit of speed.
The only time I keep my wrist lowered on the table is when I'm hitting sections filled with jacks.

Re: Wrists raised or planted
I play both, wrists raised is for really fast stream and I do wrists planted for fast JS. When my wrists are planted it's only at the wrist, not elbow, the rest of my arm is hovering since my keyboard is a bit above knee level.
EDIT: For jack sections I HAVE to place my thumb down on the keyboard it lets me vibrate.

Re: Wrists raised or planted
I've always played and still play with my arms raised. If I were to play with my arms rested then I would have trouble since I play with my laptop slanted to the left and my right arm would now be able to rest on the laptop. I feel I can pull of one handed stuff better with my arms rested but I suck at everything else with them rested. If I ever get a keyboard I may switch and see if I can get better with arms rested. I really want to see how far other people have gotten on FFR with arms raised.

Re: Wrists raised or planted
I actually play with one arm planted and one arm half-raised. My setup is ZXCV, so I'm guessing my right arm needs a little raise so it could reach it easily.

Re: Wrists raised or planted
I play with wrists both raised or planted. However, I don't develop a concrete way of playing FFR; I just play the game without thinking about it.

Re: Wrists raised or planted
@Subin: Lol thanx for the pics
@Winrar: I never use to be able to do JS but now with them planted its so much easier guess there is something to that.. @Angie: I know how you play :P and thas why you can vibrate.. guess i was wrong lol(atleast imo) @Ez: Dayum... soo close lol *side note - not that it probably has much to do with raised or planted but I also play efji setup

Re: Wrists raised or planted
I play with both of my arms up in the air, with the wrists bending downwards a whole ****lot, with the elbows going to both sides of the keyboard.
But I vary a lot. In this form I get the best speed and accuracy, especially for rolls, but my stamina doesnt last forever. But yeah. Rarely play with wrist planted, but I still do from time to time.

Re: Wrists raised or planted
i know a couple people that play like that h&h. playing like that is actually really good stamina practice. if you play the way i play you'll notice your stamina shoot through the roof and you'll maintain the speed that you have now
i use to play planted until my left arm got screwed up pretty bad(sharp continuous pain in my left wrist) but once i stopped playing planted the pain went away so its all good

Re: Wrists raised or planted
My arms are both rested on the desk, since my desk is like a little corner and it makes a 90 degree turn. I also rest my wrists.
I can't jack for shit. |
