Squeek, even if you round it up to 2 people and 2 fish in 1.5 days, it's still the same thing. I was thinking the same thing as that, though, except say that the half of a person obviously caught no fish, so one person must have caught the one fish, but it's really the same result that way, as well.

Half-people don't exist.

You either exclude the catches associated with that person or include them.

The question is poorly written so really we can't expect much out of it.

Because you said the questions were college students. I suppose you left out the word "for", making the questions for college students.

And what I mean is that halves of people don't exist. Take some Mathematics courses.

I'm good at math, but I never knew how to solve those questions, thanks anyway.

These questions are logical riddles and usually have very little to do with mathematics.

The concept of halves is what I am referring to when I speak of there being no halves to people or fish.

For example, if you calculate that you'll need 530.8 samples to get a 90% confidence interval for a given population parameter, you just round it up to 531 because you can't ask .8 people a question.
