Thanks TC Halogen and everyone.

Couple things I've discovered (this is important)
1. If you are downloading Beta 6 from the above link (maybe even beta 5, verification needed), be sure to set the permissions of the extracted folder *NOT to be "read only"* or else you will not be able to backup all saves. To enable backup of all saves, go to Options and check the box.

2. If ddream crashes when you press ctrl+alt+left to slow down the music, most likely it is because you are using an Intel graphics card and that is the shortcut to rotate the screen. Simply go to the display driver software and disable its keyboard shortcuts.

For point 1: I redownloaded the mirrored version of beta 6 just to test it and the permission was "read and write"... I can't see the issue at all. Is this because of the computer I'm currently using?

For point 2: I'll add this to the correct section in the guide

point 1: when i unzipped it onto my computer the permissions were somehow read only. Guess it depends on the computer.

thanks

youre welcome.

MarioNintendo/All: - Any way to get all the tutorial videos ever made about ddream linked on here? I have a nearly complete list of youtube links.

edit: downloaded the beta 6 again, unzipped, and the unzipped folder is still read-only.

Well the only video I know about is this one:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gELZc...layer_embedded

It was the one featured on your site and I found it very informative.

There was also who_cares973's two part tutorial (which wasn't helpful to me, but might be to others):
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g7RtVlgj5Nc
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xsStD...3&feature=plcp

For the rest, you might have to send the list. I'll put it in the OP as well. I tried searching your favorites on your Youtube channel as you suggested on the archived site, but I couldn't find anything! I might as well try to do a video tutorial myself, but I'm not sure it'll really happen xP

...no plans to write another line of ddream code myself.

but as to the "b" bug just minimize ddream, it's better than nothing I guess

think you could make the code available so other people might try to improve upon it?

I may be willing to eventually continue the project somehow (havent decided exactly how), but I won't be involved with coding. Life has gotten in the way heh. I've been looking for a few people who are highly experienced with c++/win32, digital audio processing, GUI design, and professional level coding skills to presumably clean up the mess that is ddream's source code. However, no one's accepted the challenge thus far. I will probably not just post 5+ years of code open-source for people to rummage through, I am looking for actual developers focused and dedicated to this project. For example:

* universal support for all rhythm games (including those that are not stepmania-based)
* porting to different operating systems
* customizable GUI
* customizable keyboard/joy controls for playback
* auto beat recognition
* auto stepping

EDIT: there has to be a certain high level of trust between us developers, and that there will be some kind of interview(s) to confirm that.

btw here is a list of ddream tutorials/misc random stuff that's ddream realted.

Haha, yes, I did change my sig. I was wondering how I can change my tagline from "FFR Player" to something more appropriate.

You will have to either be a veteran, FFR simfile author (which is ironic, for instance, I'm an author because of you), FFR music artist, moderator, admin, etc. I don't believe admins make exceptions, even though you programmed the tool on which the rhythm gaming community now runs.

thanks for the info whocares973. I remember Patashu from years back, glad to know he's still a strong part of the community.

I also might want to add that there has to be a certain high level of trust between us developers, and that there will be some kind of interview(s) to confirm that.

actually now that I think about it, I might have even run this idea by patashu awhile back. I don't know whether he is still up for it though.

*updated OP with videos*

This is a thread he made a while back:
http://www.flashflashrevolution.com/...d.php?t=118564

I think it's something you might be looking for since he talks about that very topic.

yeah, that's what I last remembered about Patashu and ddream. Hopefully he'll see this ongoing thread and let us know what he wants to do.

I saw it, but I figured out that, because it had no voice whatsoever, it wasn't really a useful tutorial...

I watched it again and realized it might be useful for people who are more visual, so I'll add it too. Thanks for the heads up!
