Re: Massive 8.9-magnitude quake hits Japan
so I'm almost dead.. jk
In Tokyo, almost all trains / phones are down, and a lot of people are left in the middle of the town. A lot of people were killed by tidal waves in Sendai/Fukushima.. the whole damage of this earthquake is still totally unknown. Last edited by jimerax; 03-11-2011 at 08:44 AM.. |

Re: Massive 8.9-magnitude quake hits Japan
This is terrible... the recovering is going to take quite a while, but a good luck to everyone who were affected...

We're expecting a 1-3 ft increase of sea level here in California. But it could be worse

Re: Massive 8.9-magnitude quake hits Japan
Honestly, I think someone should post on the OP of FFR for thoughts and prayers for this. This is really huge. :O
I hope all of you people in Japan are okay. And to those in Hawaii who are getting hit, as well as those on the West Coast in danger of this. |

Can't help but only feel bad, this is like what happened to haiti, it's really unexpected and I hope everyone in Japan is doing okay.
As for socal, we're on Tsunami warning in Huntington Beach, shouldn't be anything big though. And Darkness, I just heard that actually FOUR nuclear power plants caught fire, on the news, but there's no nuclear leaks so that's good. Man this really ****ing sucks. |

Re: Massive 8.9-magnitude quake hits Japan
Good to know you're alive Jimerax.
Here in the San Francisco Bay area we just experienced about an extra 3 foot high swell along the coast, so the tsunami definitely lost most of its energy. |

Re: Massive 8.9-magnitude quake hits Japan
Hoping for the safety of Japanese residents. Although the waters from the tsunami seem to be receding, there's still several aftershocks from the initial earthquake causing extensive damage according to news coverages.

Re: Massive 8.9-magnitude quake hits Japan
It's the start of 2012.. nah.
I feel so sorry for Japan, it doesn't matter if they're a super rich 1st world country, it's still an awful, awful disaster to go through. As awful at it is, I wonder if it would of been even worse if they didn't have such amazing anti-Earthquake building to take some of the beating before it turned out to be a 8.9 and a Tusnami? |

Re: Massive 8.9-magnitude quake hits Japan
If the same happened in Seoul, several millions of people would be dead.

Re: Massive 8.9-magnitude quake hits Japan
**** driving on low lying roads. I'll be getting my ass to a parking garage or a high bridge.
edit: Watch the cars driving around the water underneath the bridge. Look at the tan building at :28. Now...watch how fast the water rises. Last edited by DotKritic; 03-11-2011 at 12:20 PM.. |

watching all of this is so unreal, I can't even fathom how much life will be lost and how long it will take to recover.
