Megalovania :

Very repetitive song, it also feels a bit dumpy with the huge anchors(I personally think this is caused by excessive use of hands and jumps). The song is catchy, but it drags on for too long and the whole thing feels like it's arbitrarily difficult. It has decent PR though and with a cut it could very well be a good file. 5/10

Quietus Ray

This file is hard, but it doesn't feel overstepped. I don't know if you can truly give you a solid review without seeing the file in DDR myself to look for inconsistencies, from the playthrough some of the hands and jumps seemed a little unjustified at times though.?/10

Razorback No. 666-Mix

From the get-go, this file seems overstepped, putting all the arrows on [1] isn't at all what the melody does nor do you have to step that sound, just follow the main instruments and you are set. The jacks are also impossibly left-heavy [1] and this is a mayor issue throughout the entire file. 3/10

Starlight Express

This file is too hard and too complicated to review without having DDR to slow things down and taking a closer look. The file feels rather dumpy and has alot of very long anchors throughout the entire file, combined with constant jumps and hands it just feels like 1 giant string of 200 bpm jumpstream even though the song is quite melodious and dynamic. ?/10

Megalovania [7/10]: This has potential to be a pretty good and fun file. At m16-m17, instead of using the hands, I would personally use right then left patterns.

Quietus Ray [9/10]: This is a really fun and a really good challenging file. One small thing that I'm going to nitpick on is it feels weird for me having hands as grace notes.

Razorback No. 666-Mix [3/10]: Like M0nkeyz said, the file is really based around the left jacks. I personally found the file to be almost unplayable because of this.

Starlight Express [5/10]: A lot of the stream in this file felt really overstepped. This would be a fun file if it was toned down a bit and went to the music a little more.

James May finished the primary judge task for November/December 2016 Set 1. The notes can be seen below; this thread is being moved over to Completed Sets and the results/notes will be updated in the November/December 2016 post.

[8/10] Megalovania {Toby "Radiation" Fox} (DarkZtar)
-Offset is -0.052, times will be used in this offset
-16.052: Sound isn't heavy enough to justify a quad, remove the quad and replace it with a [13] Jump to connect with the [13] 8th jump
-35.177: Considering that its 240, a 343 miniburst transitioning to a 12 jump does look a bit sketchy. Personally a 432[14] would work best in this segment for sake of flow.
-40.052: Again, sound doesn't justify for the quad nor the emphasis.
-The file isn't bad, I couldn't spot any other technical issues but my issues that for the jumps, you have them mostly set for the trumpets but yet you have some going towards the toms. It's not a massive issue but it does throw the consistency off when layering the song.

[7.5**/10] Quietus Ray {Xi} (DarkZtar)
-Offset is -0.461, times will be used in this offset
-5.598: Shift this 32nd up so that its a [14] jump
-6.761: Sound is not loud enough to be a jump
-10.061 to 10.661: I would actually say that this is more fitting as a 131313 trill comsidering the patterning that you are taking.
-10.361: remove the jump and leave it as a single note on 3, its not that loud to warrant it nor does it have an accompanying sound to warrant it.
-19.211: Remove the 8th jump and leave it as a single note on 1
-30.761, 31.061: Should be a jump considering how you had the js layered
-32.261 to 32.561: the transition from the 414 mini to the 1234[12] mini-burst felt a bit forced, I would say to have it be a 423 trantioning to the 1234[12] as that makes it much smoother.
-35.561, 35.861: Those should be jumps
-38.861 to 39.461**: Bruh, those mini-jacks man. Noh! Should be restructured a bit. The hands are fine. Should be [123]4[12]4[13]2[134]23
-39.611 to 40.811**: I get what you're trying to do here, but it feels off. The hidden 232[34] trill that's accompanying the 4321 mini-bursts just makes this section nasty to play.
-1:02.936 to 1:03.461: The poly here felt a bit forced and looked like it seemed to be an afterthought after you did the stream.
-1:04.061: Missing a 4th here
-1:23.261**: I get that you want to a roll here, but at this speed, it just felt like it was plastered there as a "Hey look! I'm a piano roll, fear me!" Personally, a 24th roll would suffice in placement of the 48th roll.
-1:42.311: Okay, I gave the other quad a pass but this one isn't justified for a quad, most definitely a [14] jump though.
-1:44.298: Should be a jump, shift this 32nd up with the 4th.
-1:57.929: I don't hear a sound here? Could be a very faint sound. Double check on this.
-It's a fun file I'll give you that! Just that a lot of minor technical stuff and the three major issues were the deterrents for this file to be pushed in. Fix the ones marked with ** before it gets accepted.

[4/10] Razorback No. 666-Mix {S.S.H.} (DarkZtar)
-Offset is -0.808, times will be used with this offset
-13.156: the 12th jump in that trill is awkward.
-17.212, 18.272, 18.625, 20.036, 20.565, other instances: Jacks should be on 4 if following the guitar sounds.
-19.154, : Jacks should transition to 3
-20.742: There should be a jump here if you are following the drum fills here.
-23.476: Jump here
-Honestly, my major issue with this file is the RIDICULOUS amount of left hand biased jacks you have in this file, some of which isn't even on the right column if you're constantly following the guitar strumming. It ruins the fun factor of the file and you could have gotten away with stepping streams if you wanted to include polys for the drum fills. I tried giving this file an honest playthrough and I absolutely couldn't play the first half of the file. It feels like its abusing the Linus Syndrome with the amount of c1 jacks in the file. Even if the jacks were accurate, it is an absolute bitch to play on it. This would require a lot of reworking on the file once you eliminate the c1 jack syndrome.

[8**/10] Starlight Express {ginkiha} (DarkZtar)
-Offset should be -0.193, using times from this offset
-1.992: You have this note layered when later on at 4.391 you have it ignored, if you're following the sound, have it layered.
-1:02.551: I would rework this part a bit, the anchoring feels a bit off
-1:05.531**: With the offset fixed, the file starts to deviate from its sync here for some reason where the notes are coming in late at certain times. It looked like it drifts and then snaps back at certain parts. Take a very close look at this and fix it up.
-1:09.129, 1:16.326: Missing a jump here
-Certainly a fun file. There were a few minor hiccups but that second half sync drift after the offset was fixed. wat. Fix that second half's sync (denoted by a **) once you get the offset checked and then it should be good to go.
