Between The Crosses.. A Short Story
With a sad little sigh, the girl watched as the clouds floated by. Her heart pounded, and her head ached. On such a dry summers day, heartbreak wasn't new. She'd broken up again. Her heart still longed for that golden touch, the one she had wanted to embrace forever. And now, the one and only thing she loved most was gone. Not gone like he'd ditched her but gone as in, his hands were clammy and cold, his heart stopped beating. He was buried deep beneath the ground, lying with the bugs and spiders. She missed him so much still, even though he had been gone for almost a year now. Why did she do something like that? She shouldn't have done that. So why?
Flashback He felt cornered. In the deepest part of the church his eyes hung wide as he stared at what was before him. A psychotic girl stood holding a knife, pointed at his Adam's apple. "What are you doing?" He asked her, in a quiet, threatening voice." "You've violated me." She said, her voice low, insane. "You've hurt me. Now, It's time I return the favor to you." His eyes went even wider. "I've done nothing wrong!" He screamed indignantly at her. She ignored him. Her heart pounded with excitement as she drew the knife back, and threw it. "Good-bye Agri. You'll never hurt anyone again." The knife struck a wood cross behind him and she'd thrown it with enough force to snap the wooden beam. The cross fell, and he was crushed, and underneath him, a black cross dirtied with his blood. With one vile laugh, she turned to walk out of the church, her eyes the color of dried blood. Present Day She leaned back into the over grown grass, placing her hands under her head. To herself she whispered, "Today is the last day I'll live." And no one heard as the knife cut her throat, the blood raging from the wound. |
