Do you guys care for pad songs/packs?¿?¿?¿?¿!
Would I be flamed for posting any such material on here, or should I limit them just to AIJ/R21Freak? Super curious, just wondering! VERY SENSITIVE TO DISAPPROVAL (be kind!).
Also, has anyone done a joint KB/pad pack? Like, one song, two charts (KB and Pad)? |

pad packs are fine being posted here, I don't really think anyone in this community looks down upon pad charting or anything, it's more of a matter that there are much less dedicated pad players in this community

NO. . . Only if they are possible to clear on 2.0 rate.

Re: Do you guys care for pad songs/packs?¿?¿?¿?¿!
The worst case scenario of posting here is not many people will download and play the packs. If there are a lot of good songs in the pack some may download and restep some choice songs for kb. If it's like tachyon hard people will likely use it for speed training on rates.
All in all FFR will most likely not flame you for posting pad packs I can't quite answer the second question very well, if there are, there is probably like 1 or 2 packs out there x)

Re: Do you guys care for pad songs/packs?¿?¿?¿?¿!
Concerning the 2nd question, I vaguely remember some really old simfile authors used to make pad & keyboard charts in one simfile (pad on Heavy, keyboard on Oni usually) but that's about it. I don't think it's something that was ever done for an entire pack and it's not likely something that anyone would do now.

Re: Do you guys care for pad songs/packs?¿?¿?¿?¿!
a few of the non-anime otaku's dream packs are a mixture of keyboard and pad (e.g. od japan mix 2). mixing both together typically isn't common because a large majority of people look for one or the other.
some simfile authors may choose to mix both in their own simfile compilations— I've done it before myself.

The real question is, do you actually want to listen to sped up MLP songs?

Puh-lease, you think I'd use just any old MLP song? These are the choicest selections picked with the utmost scrutiny.

Re: Do you guys care for pad songs/packs?¿?¿?¿?¿!
As long as the patterns actually scale nicely on rates in a way that remains relatively spread-friendly, then you should definitely be fine imo - especially if they don't end up being super-awkward to hit around the 350-400bpm range. Tachyon and Speedcore packs in general are a great example of this, as I have found songs from the upcoming Tachyon Zeta pack to be particularly fun to play. :s
Aoreo's Index Jawn (and perhaps some of his other packs too) are pretty good as well, though I haven't really seen many fellow spread players play them as often. That being said, I don't think joint pad/keyboard packs would work out very well either - so you'd likely be better off creating pad files that can actually be exploited by spread players for speed training purposes. Late edit: I have made this post under the assumption that actually appealing to the spread playerbase is at least somewhat of a concern to you, in addition to simply ensuring that they will not disapprove of your efforts. If you only feel concerned by the latter, then as the previous people in this thread said you have absolutely nothing to be worried about since at worst not many people will show much interest other than whatever demographic you are directly catering to. Here is a visual example of this: However, other than retarded crossover patterns I don't really know much about pad/index patterns that actually feel awkward to hit... so from there it would be up to you to balance out both factors if you're willing to take on that challenge. Also X-mod (speed gimmick) courses are actually enjoyed by a decent amount of people depending on their quality and how well it actually matches the music I guess, though it should be treated as a different game mode altogether since the challenge provided would near-exclusively be reading-based rather than requiring you to actually push your physical speeds. Hopefully this explanation should be good enough to answer your questions, if not... then perhaps someone better-versed than me in stepfile theory could provide a better one here. :s Last edited by DeadSignal; 09-11-2015 at 11:30 AM.. |

How have you only posted 15 times before with such a high quality response! No, that explains things very well for me... additionally, I'm relieved to hear gimmicks are well-received here.

Now so many players play on keyboards, and almost don't care about pad notes =_+

Re: Do you guys care for pad songs/packs?¿?¿?¿?¿!
FFR is more known for keyboard players rather than pad players. If you want pad files, r21freak.com is a better place to put pad files in since that's more of a dedicated pad community.
