Re: FFR's Top 100 Video Games
You're not going to get a top ten overall most favorite because the FFR sample size is too small and I think most people are going to list too different of games that majority of games will only be listed once or maybe twice.
You could possibly converge on a "Single most favorite game from the FFR crowd", or possibly two or three, but I can't see ten converging. Also this is too difficult of a task because I could name ten great games for lots of systems. And I'm sure any ten I picked I'd be leaving out games which are at least as good or possibly better than games I've included. To be fair, I'll try to list just ten, but I'll probably hate myself for only choosing ten. In no particular order then ... Jurassic Park II: The Chaos Continues (SNES) Final Fantasy XII (PS2) Super Mario Sunshine (Gamecube) Blast Corps (N64) Ninja Gaiden (NES) Snake Rattle 'n Roll (NES) Tetris (Gameboy version) Phantom 2040 (SNES) Air Fortress (NES) Bart's Nightmare (SNES) For NES and SNES in particular, those lists could easily include 20 each, though. Probably the same for Gameboy as well. And this isn't "10 best games ever" but think of it more like "10 really great games" or "10 games you can't go wrong with". |

Re: FFR's Top 100 Video Games
1. Okami (PS2)
2. Final Fantasy X (PS2) 3. Mass Effect 3 (Xbox 360) 4. Halo 2 (Xbox) 5. League of Legends (PC) 6. Kingdom Hearts 2 (PS2) 7. Fire Emblem (GBA) 8. Guitar Hero (Xbox 360, 6 if I have choose, simply because it was the most developed one) 9. Jak 2 (PS2) 10. Baldur's Gate: Dark Alliance 2 (PS2) I feel like choosing one game out of a series is hardly fair for the most part, unless it's a shooter or fighter series where mechanical changes are made that severely alter gameplay and story is nearly a nonfactor. The differences in gameplay between something like KH1 and 2 are so minute you're essentially choosing which story you like better, which can be nigh impossible when it's a continuing storyline. Furthermore, it gives unfair weighting to the final entry in the series where climactic events occur and resolve what you've put a large chunk of your life into. For instance, gameplay-wise I like alot of how ME1 functioned, but ME3 had so much emotional attachment that it wins out based solely on that. |

Re: FFR's Top 100 Video Games
Interesting topic.
1) Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic (PC) 2) Mass Effect 2 (PC) 3) Dragon Age: Origins (PC) 4) Mass Effect (PC) 5) Super Smash Bros. Melee (GC) 6) Pokemon Gold/Silver (GBC) 7) Roller Coaster Tycoon 2 (PC) 8) Super Smash Bros. Melee (GC) 9) The Legend of Zelda: Link's Awakening (GB) 10) Logic Quest 3D (PC) What's with the trend of awesome games having awesome-er sequels, then the third installment in the series blows huge hairy nuts? (Roller Coaster Tycoon 3, Super Smash Bros. Brawl, Pokemon Ruby/Sapphire, Mass Effect 3) I'm gonna give an Honorable Mention to the design software NoLimits, I play that shit like it's a game and were it to actually count for this I'd rate it higher than KOTOR lol By far throughout my life the single piece of software I am most exited for is NoLimits 2... EDIT- moved Chrono Trigger to 11 because Logic Quest was the shit, forgot about that game :P

In the time it takes you to like, float to the ground in Brawl you could have comboed someone for 80% and knocked them offscreen in Melee or Original Smash. Basically my entire group of friends all agreed we hated it after a month of trying to make it work and then we went back to Melee. There's a ton of good hacks for Brawl that make it not boring but the fact you need to mod it to make it enjoyable as a competitive game or even just as a party game is the reason it's nowhere near my top 10.

Re: FFR's Top 100 Video Games
1. The Last of Us (seriously, holy fuck) (PS3)
2. Uncharted 3 (mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm yeah, not including 1 or 2 even though they're also incredible) (PS3) 3. Sonic Unleashed (fuck the haters those hot dog stands are amazing) (PS3) 4. Spyro: Year of the Dragon (easily the best) (PS1) 5. Crash Bandicoot: Warped (mmmmmmmmmmmmmm yeah) (PS1) 6. Crash Bash (those fucking platinum relics holy jesus) (PS1) 7. Crash Team Racing (mmmmmmmm yeah) (PS1) 8. Spiderman 2 (open world hell yes, almost chose inFAMOUS for this though) (PS2) 9. Dead Space (this spot almost went to F.E.A.R. 2 for sheer terror h4h4) (PS3) 10. Bugs Bunny Crazy Castle 3 (mmmmm yeah there went my childhood) (GB) Honourable mention: Ape Escape (mmmmm yeah there went my childhood v2) (PS1) I'm such a Naughty Dog fanboy (only played Jak 1 so far though that's why none of that series has made the list... yet). I never played any Legend of Zelda or Final Fantasy games, and also did not own a SNES or N64. (clap) I do enjoy some Mario games though. Actually why the hell didn't Super Mario Sunshine make this list oops (honourable mention #2). Last edited by smartdude1212; 07-8-2013 at 06:26 PM.. |

Re: FFR's Top 100 Video Games
Can someone explain what the hell is so awesome about The Last Of Us (without spoiling)?
I've been playing it on the PS3 and I'm a few hours in. It's kinda interesting, but I don't see why people are fscking raving about it so much. Is there something awesome coming? (y/n, no spoilers pl0x) |

Re: FFR's Top 100 Video Games
Regardless of your perception of awesome I'm going to say yes.
What got to me is the sheer beauty of it all in the bleak world, and certain surprises along the way (not the usual fare you'd expect like oops suddenly this person is not who they say they are!!!!). There's one area in the game where the imagery and the music just got to me, and it was such a perfect spot in the game that I had to stop for a few moments. Anyone who has reached that point could probably figure it out. I also loved never knowing if I was safe. Ever. |
