As for PW: I've got a grudge against the game. I don't play it anymore but when I did, I played on a private server. The leveling of this game just takes for ****ing ever. I'm not complaining that it's as bad as Maple, but honestly it gets quite boring until the 100+ monsters. Not to mention the whole, "hey I think it'll be a great idea to just try and render the graphics of a huge ****ing map with hundreads of people on it because we want to be no oh what lag? don't even worry about that just turn your settings to the lowest possible visual display and don't worry about users complaining we gave them the ability to fly at lvl 1!"

I'm not knocking any specific game. I'm sure Aion is a fantastic game, but I'm not going to play it because it charges you a monthly fee.
I have no trouble running PW on max settings.

Re: Perfect World
Why does it go against your morals (or fabric of being)? Take WoW for an example. It takes money to maintain those servers and run, not to mention fund the teams working on various content to expand the game. I can understand not wanting to pay a monthly fee but morally, I see no problem with it.

Re: Perfect World
Expansions existed before MMOs. Nobody else required monthly payments. Games that required servers to run existed before MMOs. Nobody else required monthly payments. I'm aware of the cost associated with developing and maintaining games. I have no problem with paying for expansions as they come but charging me every month to play the same game forever is wrong.
Don't get me wrong, Blizzard has a hell of a racket because rich spoiled children can always get their parents to keep paying for them. It's good that they can exploit people like that. People willing to pay that money don't deserve to keep their money. I, on the other hand, refuse to pay for a product after I leave the store. If they want my business then they need a different business model. PS I don't shop at WalMart because of my issues with their control of the supply chain. I am a very principled (stubborn) person when it comes to economics.

Re: Perfect World
I got to Level 18 on PW and stopped. Nothing really kept me hooked.

Seriously, if you quit before lvl30 you miss 99% of the game.

Sweet, make an account on the Dreamweaver server. I usually at least get on at midnight EST to do dailies with Chazze. If you have questions feel free to PM me in-game.

Re: Perfect World
I feel the same way. If I bought the game in the store, that should be a done deal. P2P games just aren't my thing, but mainly because I have yet to find a game that is so enthralling, intellectually stimulating, fun, and epic enough to make the monthly fee worthwhile for me. $15 a month to grind? No thanks.

A year ago I would've agreed with you that the concept of paying to own a game that you must pay to play is absurd, but WoW really is that good of a game. |
