Keymapping and YOU
Since the second I learned that becoming a subscriber on FFR would allow me to change my key-mapping without a third party program, I have played in the "AS-KL" style.
I feel that i've reached a sort of, block, with developing any further skill in this game, and wonder if my layout is to blame. What key mapping do you use? |

Re: Keymapping and YOU
Yeah, what FFRGreen said, haha. You've pretty much ALWAYS been given the option of mapping your keys; regardless if you were a subscriber (now veteran) or not. ASKL is a pretty solid setup, actually. I would definitely suggest upping your speed mod, though..
what speed are you currently using? Edit: You might want to gradually increase your speed mod. 1.5 is a bit slow for me, but there are people capable of reading more difficult charts with 1.5 - it all comes down to personal preference imo.

Re: Keymapping and YOU
Ahh, but this isn't true. A long while ago, there was no option to change key-mapping in non-beta.
Nor AVmiss fix for that matter. Oh man was that awful. |

Re: Keymapping and YOU
I thought your keyboard was ****ed up so you had to use those.
I used to use S D Num8 and Num6 to play. (middle and rings) now I use S D J K (index and middle). Btw: When you go to change your speed mod, gradually increase it. Maybe, up .5 every 5 games or something. |

Re: Keymapping and YOU
wdko!
I used to use qslp (I used this ever since I was a little n00b when I begged a player named Izzy for tips on a keymap ) but when I realized qslp didn't register for hands or 4 notes, I changed it to wdko and use it currently. |

Re: Keymapping and YOU
One Handed/arrows keys
Index/arrow keys DF KL D JKL WD LP (Also note on spread setups I play with middle and ring finger instead of Index and Middle fingers. On Index I also played with Middles instead of my actual Index fingers.) All key maps I use. Not all of them are all the time but I've used them all at one point or another. I bolded the one I use the most. Italicized is my next one to try out. Pretty much I've taken up learning a lot of different styles just for the fun of it - not to dare say I'm any good at a lot of them. |

Re: Keymapping and YOU
Some people also switch their setup depending on the song. For example, some people prefer set-ups like "fghj" on some songs so they can easily switch between playing spread-style and index-style for different parts of the song. Sometimes I use set-ups like fghj when a song has a lot of one-handed trills, so that way, when those trills come up, I can quickly switch to index (temporarily) to tackle those one-handed trills, then I switch back to spread after those trills are done.

Re: Keymapping and YOU
haha When I started playing Stepmania I only used one hand for about a week or so (using the arrow keys), then I found out I could change the key setup!!!!, so I changed it to AS KL, then destroyed those keys and switched to ZX >?, f*cked up those keys as well and tried QW {}, same thing kept going until I F**ked up every single key on my keyboard except the number ones, used to play with 12 =\ but they are ruined as well so im using 34 \(backspace) it's the only key left!!!! LMAO

we89
2.125x (feels slow though, so not sure what to do about this as it is relatively fast considering the height of the game window)
