I think the Christmas episode is one of the best yet, but it was also the first episode where I totally understood where Chaz was coming from about Pinkie Pie being reduced to hackneyed comic relief. Her role was pretty irritating.

Pinkie Pie has always been like that. She was always supposed to be random and crazy but in a fun way. I just really don't see any change here.

Actually, I agree with Chaz for the first few episodes of the series. Pinkie had one or two lines and they were just random pointless jokes.

I'd say from ep10 onward, including the most previous episode, her character has been more and more defined. We still need that Pinkie episode though.

Characters are always broad archetypes in the beginning of a series. The writers don't develop a complete characterization that early because those traits need to be introduced. But for whatever reason they backed off. Of course she is random and crazy. But it's how the writers are using the character that bothers me. Instead of her randomness and craziness being central to the plot, it's just thrown in to get a quick laugh. I don't like that. It's not that her character isn't defined. It is. I just want those traits to be pivotal to the episode rather than comic relief.

All I really want is another Pinkie-centered episode.

So apparently the youtube takedown notices were real/legit? At least that seems to be the consensus on equestriadaily. Oh and ponyarchive is dead and apparently has redirected people to some rather nasty stuff at one point (but not at the time I'm writing this) so everypony may want to stop linking it.

This really wouldn't be so bad if Hasbro would make with putting up the stuff on their own official youtube channel of some sort and/or would release full season DVD set(s) but so far they haven't done either. There are a few episodes in wrong order available on DVD but that's it.

edit: Who is the gray colt that shows up in a bunch of spots this episode? Especially in the last two minutes or so, it's just the CMC's, Twist, and him. Looks like Snips' build but different coloration.

I liked the Epic Cupcake Time one a lot. This one I didn't really like so much, no offense. I think what put me off the most was throwing an ad right as part of the flash though yes I realize it's to buy stuff related to the animation but still, kinda tacky IMO.

Plus I think it kinda went a bit too near the APPLES.MOV and DRESS.MOV kind of stuff. Epic Cupcake Time was better -- out there, but not Ren & Stimpy levels of out there.

And yes I liked Ren & Stimpy but there's already a "Ren & Stimpy" pony thing -- it's the APPLES.MOV and DRESS.MOV and whateverelse .MOV stuff. Mainly Rarity seems to be a direct ripoff of Applejack in APPLES.MOV but with pie.
