Re: 9th Official FFR Tournament - Predictions Thread
Okay well either Staiain will be eliminated early in D7 or place last from accumulating ~2g every round or he will prove me wrong and win the whole damn thing :P
Also I never said staiain's problem was with reading ffr (that's silly), his problem is consistency and focus. Even in trivial stepmania files I haven't seen many AAA's from him so you need to consider what type of player he is. The fact that he has #1 on rato is outweighed by his inconsistency with less difficult files (the only other D7 scores I can see that he has are Almost There BF and WWE 1-0-0-1 which are both speed biased). He has 35 plays on Beautiful Arrhythmia and ended up with barely an SDG. I feel like a whiner explaining this but I think it's like he hasn't proven himself in all aspects of the game to be D7 yet. Throw him in D6 and I'm sure it will be a much more even match. Last edited by Dynam0; 10-12-2013 at 02:11 PM.. |

Re: 9th Official FFR Tournament - Predictions Thread
Lawn Wake XI is a perfect example of what I mean. Someone could be able to do really fast stream but still not be able to hit all those weird ass color parts properly, I had to take around 30 minutes seeing what the hell was going on and it turns out hitting a few jumps were better than just playing the song over and over hoping to luck out everything
There is a point where physical limitations come into play, and Staiain is way above everyone else in that aspect haha. |

Re: 9th Official FFR Tournament - Predictions Thread
As thrilling as it is to see my name so high up a few lists, Eze is probably the most correct due to me being in Russia without my usual keyboard.
If the songs have jacks (a la Turbo) or jumptrillable rolls at a slow-ish BPM (a la Husigi 48ths) I'll probably shit the bed because laptop keys (clap). I'm curious to see what D6 and D7 look like after a few rounds though... I've got no predictions right now. grind2 & Revo all the way. Last edited by smartdude1212; 10-12-2013 at 02:12 PM.. |

I predict that I'm going to win D5 :3
I also predict samurai wins hands-down D7 unless he's banned for the sick scores he pulled last tourney |

Staiain and dossar will be a pretty good matchup. I wish leonid was in the tourney he was my idol. Say OWA is there any special thing you can do while the tourney is going on (*cough* double credits) . But seriously there should be something special during these precious times.

Re: 9th Official FFR Tournament - Predictions Thread
Absolutely correct here. But we're talking about a tournament division which is either elimination based or cumulative scoring. Either way, it isn't good for a player like Staiain because he will have a hard time in early rounds staying focused and AAAing things, it happened last tourney so why would this be any different? Put him in D7 for skill potential I suppose but he hasn't shown that he can compete with D7 players in tournament situations.

Re: 9th Official FFR Tournament - Predictions Thread
Staiain in D6 means if he gets to last 3 rounds he should destroy everyone.

Re: 9th Official FFR Tournament - Predictions Thread
Hey, I've got a new prediction although probably almost everyone will agree lol. DossarLX ODI will win D7.
D4 is quite a good question but it's really too hard to determine when there are too many people borderline D5 so it's too hard to say who all will be in D4.

Look at my playcount on Rave7. Sure, it might "only" be around 30 plays, but if I didn't bother to look into it, imagine how much that playcount would have multiplied by if I just played the file over and over again just hoping to luck out any part I didn't quite know. I spent several hours breaking down Rave7. do i smile was a case where the rolls were just very weird to score on and the 4th wall was entirely luck, that's where I'd have to luck out unfortunately. |

Re: 9th Official FFR Tournament - Predictions Thread
I don't think many D7 players screenshot patterns or make isolations on 76's...maybe for some wacky stuff like grind2 but come on... a 76?! it's clearly a problem with focus and not whether or not he can read patterns. Actually I don't even have the luxury of using the isolation feature because r^3 is so laggy. Staiain tends to avoid pattern manipulation anyways which is probably another thing working against him.
