Death...
I know that this may sound like a crappy topic, but I think about it all the time.
What really happens when we die? Being a Christian, I know that it's bad to doubt God, but I can't help but think, what happens when we die? Do we ascend to a higher level of being? Do we just stay in the darkness? Is there a heaven and hell? Do you think that you can dream or form thoughts? Thoughts and speculations please. And mods, don't move this topic please. If it goes into Chit Chat, a bunch of people won't take it seriously. And if it goes into the GB... I can't even imagine the kind of posts this will get. |

Re: Death...
As Falcons already said. This has been done numerous times. Here, have my thread which spanned 4 pages and had a hell of a lot of interesting debate.

Re: Death...
As I've said before...
You're put in a box or jar. You're either worm food or sneeze enducing dust. You're dead. Hope you're cool with that. Q |

Re: Death...
Conciousness is derived from the function of the brain.
When you die so does your brain; it ceases to function. So there shouldn't be anything, from your point of view (since your point of view no longer exists)

Re: Death...
Death is a logical argument for religion, in the sense that if you're religious eternal unconsciousness is the worst that can happen to you whereas if you're not it's the best.

Re: Death...
But we don't know how our mind really works with the brain. We know that the 2 are undeniably linked, and we can conceivably learn everything about the brain, but I don't think we'll ever really know how/why, and because of that I think its possible that there indeed is some form of life after death.
