Reading your entries made me inevitably think back a lot to my time working in a psych ward -- usually I'd read the patients journals and transcribe them into our system and I had a similar experience of really wanting to do something like that long term myself -- it's nice to be able to help people, and I think when you can truly empathise with people from your own experiences it really helps the situation. I did feel kind of concerned at points over your sleeping and med situations but I'm glad they gave you something that at the very least doesn't have any debilitating side effects.

Even just working there I got a lot of good methods for my own life stresses and situations, and being able to put a term to the weird aggressions people inflict on each other imo is useful for knowing how to identify and work against or away from it.

What do you think you'll do when you're around your brother again though? I guess that's what concerns me the most about the whole thing, I'm really glad to hear you're okay right now at least.

The therapists-- and everyone I've mentioned this to really-- were worried about that too. My fam seems insistent that it'll never happen again though, and they told me that if I notice anything off they'll kick him out.

But also when I told my sis I'd call the cops on him if he did it again, she was still hesitant about me doing that.

edit: ironically i'm not sleeping now but gossip girl hhhhhhheeeeeeeeehhhhhhh

also the thing i want most is to be home now i miss my parents

ftr funny, journal seems really thoughtful

i know this is kind of a side track but if they didn't give you any tips on how to manage cholesterol, it could be worth seeking out advice on that because sometimes the answer is more complicated than just "eat better". though that's not bad to try first anyway

my dad used to have high cholesterol so i'm just following what he did to get better. if it doesn't get better then i guess i'd have to go to the doc (but i don't have insurance.. again -__-)

I believe you can be listed as a dependent under your parents' insurance until you're 26 in the US. I don't know the stipulations though, it might depend on what plan they have. I'd check it out, it seems like a good short-term solution

On a related note: If you do decide to be under your parents' insurance, make sure to contact them regularly about it. I got sick of having a subpar plan that kept changing every few months because they kept switching plans (I didn't have any control over what I had basically) so I ended up getting my own health insurance and there's a much better peace of mind there -- it stays the same plan and is better, just the difference is part of my paycheck goes towards it. Preferably you'd be able to get an insurance plan from an employer.

Being on a parental insurance plan is overrated, honestly. It may save some money but there is a lot of hassle that isn't worth it, unless you're really tight on budget.

I've seen a lot of posts/threads similar to this on social media and elsewhere. My own personal advice to you is to just keep telling yourself "I can do this." It applies to anything - games, your jobs, medical things, etc.

We as a species are mentally programmed one way or another as we're all capable of emotions. I know this is common knowledge and everyone and their dog probably knows this already. Point is, mental clarity is one of those things that I've seen a lot of people struggle to attain. I admit I've had trouble with it myself at one point or another.

I didn't actually look at all the posts in the thread to really get a grasp of what's going on, so I can only go on the bare minimum here. Just keep your head up and don't be afraid to talk to people here. That's really what communities are for; to help one another for the greater good.

I wish you the best of luck. If that doesn't work, you can always try faith or religion. (Touchy subject, I know. But hey. It's better than nothing.)
