Primarily, I play one handed, using the following style:

One hand, thee finger, left hand
< - Ring finger
^ v - Middle Finger
> - Index Finger

I am trying to switch to spread, and when this becomes my primary set-up, I will post letting the people of this thread know.

Spread set-up:

Left Middle Finger: Z
Left Index Finger: X

Right Index Finger: .
Right Middle Finger: /

A question to you all:

Would you consider 2 hand 4 finger (2 fingers from each hand) on the arrow keys (or something similar) as "spread"? I had the idea that spread had to have distance between the left and right hands. Arrow keys, and the like, have the hands on top of each other, so I haven't put them in spread. Thoughts?

If arrow key 2 hand 4 finger is spread, then I'll just put them under Hybrid or Index Middle Spread.

If arrow key 2 hand 4 finger is not spread, give me a name for them. I'll take several opinions first.

Nahh, I think that's like.. Cramped. not spread. I think of spread as spread "out". But I'm not a genius at that.. So I don't know.

I'm assuming all people who say "spread" are index middle.

EDIT: skc is a can invader guyz

Why is pettanko called pettanko? Doesn't make any sense in Japanese (means completely flat).

EDIT2: Ok EnR gets the naming credit rofl

Using 4 fingers on the arrow keys is not called spread, it's 4 fingered xD

I play the same way as Hammy, but with different left-hand keys.

I've always felt this to be more "natural". Because the tip of your middle finger is farther out than that of either the index or ring finger, it feels more natural to fit a middle finger with a ring finger on a key lower to the side (as it is on the hand) instead of bringing an index finger up to a key next to a middle finger.
Yeah. Really just coining the term "natural spread" as an alternative to "hybrid", but... yeah. "Hybrid" works just as well because different fingers are used on each hand.
Oh, also... I think this is also, like, a transition between 4-finger and Mid/Index spread. Because the Mid/Ring finger on the right hand fits right on the arrow keys, and the Mid/Index on the left hand fits under the right hand on the arrow keys. So "transitional" could work as a word for the style, too... aaand now I'm just kind or rambling.

Hybrid Spread: (L middle, L index, R middle, R ring)

K, I'll use that. You are credited for naming it so.

Rambling is good input. But I'm sticking with Hybrid. Until some lefty version pops up, in which case I'll need a different name. But I have a question for hybrid players then. According to this, you're basing the natural-ness off the idea that you have to have your keys in the shape of the arrow key format. Hence your up is more distant than your right, hence you use middle ring to make it feel natural. Assuming that everyone has stronger index and middle, wouldn't it be easier to equalize the distance of up and right and play like index middle spread players?

Another Another Question: There seem to be many index middle spread players who use a s k l. Should I make another subsubsection for you guys?

I think anything using spread should stay in the same categorie, meaning:

ASKL, DFJK, QW[], ZX./, <v86 etc...

askl is very common. About as much as zx./, I'd say. So if you're going to make one subsection, you may as well make a second.

EDIT: EnR is right. There's really no reason to split it up. Just keep it as one category.

Until I saw this, I thought I was the only one who did this setup for spread.

Index middle spread, same keys as above.

Ok, but don't ask me, "How many people play [? ? ? ?]?" after 200 people are on the spread list. That's my primary concern. Unless if there's some fast counting method.

If you guys may want tallies for certain key formats in the future, I should make subsections for them. If you don't need such tallies, then I won't. Once again, unless if there's some fast counting method.

just put them in order all in packs, leave spaces between each style and have the number of players underneath, everytime you add someone, add another number.
