as for a gaming system, i would advise against it. $300 is enough to invest in something that could potentially make/save you more money/time, for example making crafts or planting a garden. video games only take time out of your day and to what result? nothing tangible (unless you sell accounts on an MMO) |

Other non-BS answer: If your boyfriend wants you to get it so bad, why not just have him buy it for you?

But yeah I agree, in general it's silly to buy a system for one game, especially if you're blowing $300 on it. |

Re: Question about splurges ($$$$$?)
I played resident evil 4 on the gamecube quite a lot. Other than that just thousands of hours of pso and super smash bros.
Really though, don't buy the system. Buy a computer instead. Here is a guide. Around the 450-500 dollar range you will be able to play skyrim. Last edited by Izzy; 09-17-2012 at 08:21 PM.. |

If you're paying $61,000/yr for your education, for your sake, I hope that the education is top quality. That's quite a bit of money to splurge on Uni. (I'm assuming Uni at this point). |

Re: Question about splurges ($$$$$?)
I run Skyrim on my shitty 2005 laptop.
Minimum graphics and the computer overheats every 50 minutes or so even in an A/C'd room with a cooling pad. On the other hand, crappy graphics never bothered me and you can save anywhere in the game so having to wait 10 minutes every 50 minutes is not a big deal... you'd be surprised what you can get to run on an outdated computer, even if your computer's specs appear to be too low. Also I'd recommend looking into buying and constructing your own computer, rather than a console from this generation. You can make an EXCELLENT desktop PC for far cheaper than you'd expect. I got my laptop very cheap before the xbox 360 even came out and it's still kickin' so I bet getting a computer now that lasts 5-6 years at least would be a better investment than a 360 or ps3 that will be outdated in a few years... food for thought. Either way, good luck. Skyrim is worth the trouble in my opinion :P

Re: Question about splurges ($$$$$?)
I go to a pretty decent Uni; University of Calgary. I am studying in a field that is top notch for Northern Alberta; Petroleum Geology, and I am only paying about 15g a year in total (Thats with books, food, rent, everything...).
I'd like to know this aswell.. lol Also, where?
