Re: Songs of the Week (May 25, 2013)
To be honest, the hardest parts are the one hand trills. In my opinion i would say it fits right in with the 73-74 songs. But thats my opinion like i said. lol
EDIT: OR it could just be me and im just good at those types of files, i dunno EDIT 2: I also dont see why Dead Batteries cant be 66 seeing as how we have songs like Defection, Makiba, ambient angels that are all FMO. /biased

I think OVERklock is a little too easy to be a 77. But, I'm biased towards trills. I think, because of the one-hand trills, it should be around 74-75, since there really isn't anything else that difficult about it.

Re: Songs of the Week (May 25, 2013)
Dead Batteries jumpstream didn't feel continuous enough to be FMO when I playtested it. It's ~8bpm slower than Makiba with increased density during some sections, but a lot more breaks. I'll push it up to 66 if others disagree though.
And yeah I'm leaning towards 75ish for OVERklock now but god damn those one handed trills are beyond nasty. They're the entire difficulty of the file. |

Re: Songs of the Week (May 25, 2013)
Will you guys stop putting in random values for secret songs and reorganize the list so it makes sense? Why does Jake The Ripper take less credits than Toki, or Flesvelka take less than Jake The Ripper?
hnnnnnng pet peeve Aside from that, I guess I'll be playing these later. Not sure what I think of Overcloked based off the preview, but it looks like a 75 seems to be appropriate as aside from the one handed trills and the density the chart doesn't offer that much for difficulty. I only say 75 because it's kinda been proven FFR players are horrible at one handed trills and anchors, which is a lot of what this chart consists of. If it weren't for the one handed parts I'd easily lump this a lot lower, say like 69 or so. |

Re: Songs of the Week (May 25, 2013)
I remember DarkZtar's file from testing it because Kayla and I were considering using it during the last official, but it was too reliant to one particular skill, so we opted out of it. I loved the file, though. The one-handed trills are fast, but I think they're also fast enough to stick out as jumps if you really wanted. I think it should probably be a 73/74.
Dead Batteries feels fine at 64 tapping along to the preview. Middie: what do you mean? I'm trying to understand what you're trying to say because there is a solution if you're saying that the list shows Secret genre songs out of ascending order for credit values. |

Re: Songs of the Week (May 25, 2013)
I'm assuming Middie would like the Secret songs to be unlocked in such an order where the difficulty of songs progressively increases as you accumulate more credits.

Re: Songs of the Week (May 25, 2013)
Okay, I usually don't say anything mean, but surely I can't be the only one repeating the words "WHY!?" on those one handed trills in OVERklock. I mean, you can cheat it so you can hit it as a jump, but it's still pretty gross.
Dead Battery I think should be bumped to a 66-67 because of the longevity and constant jumpstream that happens at the halfway point while throwing in some pretty tricky rolls in the mix. Oh, and Toki is my favorite file for this week. That was so fun!

Re: Songs of the Week (May 25, 2013)
I think he is saying the credit values need to be changed entirely. In which case, I would agree with him.
Toki is roughly the same difficulty as Bogey At Your Six, but requires significantly less credits to unlock. Why is that? What is the reasoning behind that? EDIT: Ninja'd, fuck you rob. (angry)

Re: Songs of the Week (May 25, 2013)
There was no reason behind having a 16k cred requirement for Toki, I just stuck it between two other FMOs (Rottel and Pitch Black) since the entire list seems a bit random and out of place to me as well. It's possible that before the 1-99 scale existed, the idea behind Secret songs was to have the harder files unlocked as a player gained more credits, but now that FMO is also 66-78 as opposed to just a title, the list seems a bit off. It probably looked a lot nicer when it just had a bunch of 'VC', 'FMO', 'FGO' files appearing together. And I know JX liked placing marathon songs in this genre with a high credit req, regardless of difficulty (see Blue Army and Szerenc in relation to other files in that area).
I don't mind slightly reworking the unlock order if JX/bmah are okay with it. I'll talk to them about it later. |

But to save you from reading it: Yes I want things ordered properly where as the difficulty scales the credit count scales with it, the way it should have been done in the first place tbh. But that thread outlines everything precisely for you. You can now obviously ignore most of the legacy comments save for removing them from the secret genre. If anyone likes, I'd happily modernize the post and sort out the list for you guys. |

Oh, I see what you guys are talking about in terms of the secret genre -- I personally don't really have an opinion on what happens.
Also, for everyone who is mad about OVERklock, I gave it a 9/10 in the batch (initially a 10, lol) - get at me |
