general complaints and goodbye
I have tried everything that anyone has ever suggested to improve ffr flash performance: closing other processes, switching browsers, setting quality to low, optimizing windows 7 visual performance, allowing unlimited flash memory storage, disabling hardware acceleration, restarting browser, running differenr engines, running different resolutions, using the simple version, using standalone, using flash 9, 10, 11 and everything up, closing all other browser windows etc etc and I can still only play on 30 fps and the game lags 99% of the time or has a very bad choppy and glitchy look, even though I have a recent computer on which every other game, including flash games, run well.
On top of that, the combo-fetishist scoring system is rage-inducing and off-putting. The game seems to be designed to promote mashing, unless you program yourself to completely ignore any game incentive towards combo scoring. I know I'm not the only one with these complaints and I hope that better flash performance, especially in the R3 engine, and a change from total to raw score ranking and tier systems will be considered for the future. For now, FFR simply isn't worth my time anymore and I'll stick to SM. I'll probably keep lurking on these forums, but other than that, it's goodbye from me.

Doesn't look like you've tried not using windows 7, or windows at all.
Although I agree, I refuse to play until combo scoring is dead. I'll stick with stepmania for now. |

Re: general complaints and goodbye
Crack open a long, 720p+ movie in VLC Media Player and mute it in the background. Most of my laggy runs are alleviated by this (though sometimes I have to restart at the beginning again anyway).
Otherwise, wah. |

Re: general complaints and goodbye
try running linux instead of whatever windows OS.
from what I understand, a switch to raw scoring is in the works. |

Seriously, consider trying windows 8 if you want to use windows for ffr. Otherwise install some linux distro, at least just to test.

Re: general complaints and goodbye
don't blame FFR for shit lagging on your computer. I can run the game flawlessly on my windows 7 machine.
Combo scoring is pretty stupid tho

btw, I also lag on 30fps and the game is choppy, but it's fine once I move up the framerate. It's currently the only way I can run the game smoothly. Occasional lag was from leaving internet browser open. Last edited by Hakulyte; 06-17-2014 at 12:03 PM.. |

unless i missed an update or something you need flash player 10 to use a higher fps setting. your screenshot is showing you are running flash 9..

I use windows 7 and FFR works fine for me on R^3 standalone in Flash Player 9.
I just don't know why so many people get these lag issues Will admit that initially the aero theme for windows 7 lagged my game at first, but after switching it to a more simple theme, game worked great. |

Re: general complaints and goodbye
Thanks for some of your suggestions. I had already tried those, though (changing windows theme to basic, changing fps, trying linux), except for the VLC movie idea of smartdude, which I'll give a try. I have no idea why on earth that would work, but hey, it's worth a shot.
Also, sorry for the 'goodbye drama'; I was fed up and had a nerd rage moment
