I have it all sorted by date. It seems like anything prior to 1900 would be public domain, but who knows.

Artists include

Bach
Handel
pachelbel
Vivaldi
Purcell
Albinoni
Mozart
Beethoven
Haydn
Chopin
Schubert
Mendelssohn

And some more.

Copyright laws vary by country. In the U.S. It's anything before 1923. Go here for a full list of copyright/recording copyright dates.

You can use my classical song, (already have blanket permission) But it's probably not some of the best you will find. But adding more classical songs would be pretty awesome, It's my favorite genre as well.

How about an excerpt from Tchaikovsky's Fourth symphony, 4th movement?
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mctpT...eature=related
From the opening until 4:10, then cut ....
then again - I'd want the section from 5:20 to 6:15 on to be in there .... just the entire thing in one long file lol

I wouldn't mind Classical music on FFR. But, since FFR is mainly dancey type tunes, I'm not reallys eeing Classical. Don't get me wrong, Classical is one of the best types of music I've ever heard.

As for our policy about the permission of classical music (especially songs composed in 1923 or before), we still need permission from the performer, or MIDI/synthesized music creator.

In terms of legitimacy, probably we even have to remove Rondo/MW/Caprice/Revo/FOTBB/etc, but not doing that right now unless we actually get claims from performers (I'm not even sure who they are except for caprice) of these songs about permissions.

finding out who creates midis is a pain when you didnt get the midi from an original source though ffffffffff. getting permission from original composers if its live shouldnt be asll that hard.

how's that upload btw izzy? once thats done i wouldnt mind contacting composers to get permission for stuff

I pretty much like your list Izzy, even though I think you could have inserted some of Bach's fugues xD But hey, we can't cover it all.

also, WTF xD Fur Elise hasn't been added to FFR yet lol ? God, that's one of the most played classical piano piece of all time xD

I reckon we should step some more technical progressive folk metal music. We have enough classical.

Fantasie Impromptu Op. 66...I would so love a chart/song for it in game, but we'd still have issues getting around permissions, argh. Making a .midi file is not cool either because it involves the changing of BPMs, since most .midis within public domain will be fairly constant. I have a fairly high quality sounding piano that I was using to make a(n edit to a) .midi of Revoultionary Etude for a v2, but even having a good "sounding" piano doesn't cut it. I ended up stopping - the entire song was transcribed, but adding the proper dynamics and accents was way too tedious. I think I only did around 25 seconds of it because I was also trying to make the BPM not static, and relatively close to the version of Revo in game.

And static BPM classical music makes me want to cry.
