[NEWS] Athens Up In Flames
http://www.aljazeera.com/news/asia/2...456127197.html
"Clashes erupted after more than 100,000 protesters marched to parliament to rally against drastic austerity cuts that will ax one in five civil service jobs and slash the minimum wage by more than a fifth." If all of these people were from Athens, 1 in 6 people in the city were involved in this. http://www.reuters.com/article/2012/...8190UC20120210 The Greek police continue to monitor and "break up" the unruly protests, however they are also demanding the arrests of EU and IMF officials for "blackmail, covertly abolishing or eroding democracy and national sovereignty" ITT discuss how Greece got into this situation, how it applies to the rest of the world, and what we can learn from what is happening now. or you know, call them all dirty hippies like you normally would. more pics in the Aljazeera link starbucks engulfed by fire: symbolic as fu |

GOOD. Those government assholes get what they deserve. This is coming from a greek btw.
I support these riots. My grandma's been telling me about the crisis for months now, and it has outraged both of us. I'm glad the citizens of Greece aren't taking any more shit. |

Re: [NEWS] Athens Up In Flames
Basically the same shit that's going on with America about the 1%, but amplified 3-fold. How they actually demand money from the poor when the unemployment rate's around 20% over there (which is Great Depression level which is frightening).
