As much as I really wanted the Olympics in Chicago, I'm kinda happy that we did not win.

For starters some of the plans that they had could have been better to preserve some of Chicago's landmark sites (if you can call them that) A good example of this is the Columbia Yacht Club, which would have to move for the first time in over 100 years.

Also, there are already quite a few people in the city and millions more would be coming... Where would they all go? Let's be honest, there is only so much space and for events like the Taste of Chicago or the 4th of July, it is almost impossible to get around the city because of how many people are there. Then there is the problem with too many people located in 1 place so that there are too many cell phone signals and no one can connect to any of the towers.

Unfortunately, This would also bring a lot of tourism to Chicago which would help the city out a lot. With all of the people coming there would be an increase in need for jobs and volunteers which would be awesome.

There is also that whole thing where they would be trying to improve the city on all fronts which would make it nicer to live here. But who knows now. I'm just a little bitter about it. As much as I would have liked for it to come, so I would have a good chance of being able to attend, I don't think I would have been ready for all of the changes that they were going to try to make.

(also note, this is just a half-drunken rant)

I counted four.

1904 in St. Louis
1932 & 1984 in LA
1996 in Atlanta

The United States hosted the Winter Games four times. But that is a different thing.
