Getting your old job back
Is it possible to ask for your job back after quitting?
I'm looking for a method like writing a rehearsed letter then go from there but I'm not 100% sure that might work. The reason I'm asking is because my workplace is close to where I live (about 2 miles) and it's the only good paying job around my neighborhood and I really don't feel like looking for another job unless this plan backfires on me but I want to give it a shot and see where this goes but I'm going to need your help. Any better ideas?

I was a host at Outback Steakhouse.

Depends how you left. If you got laid off because you stole something or purposely broke something, good luck getting your job back. But I have a friend who recently got the same job he had and he didn't even lose his seniority. ( not sure about this word)

Re: Getting your old job back
If you quit without putting in a 2-weeks notice, good luck.

Re: Getting your old job back
Man, I dunno...it depends on the circumstances of your quitting. Was it on good terms, or did you preemptively quit so you wouldn't get fired?
If you worked your ass off, didn't do anything wrong, and your bosses liked you, then it's probably worth a shot, but I'm sure they've already filled your position anyways. I don't really have any tips because I've never asked for a job back, but obviously you should talk directly to the manager of the restaurant. Whether or not you call or go in person is up to you. |

Basically what I want is some sort of scripture that you can memorize, you know like a movie where you can rehearse a paragraph explaining why you deserve to get your job back, the reasons you quit, etc., and surprise them. It sounds too farfetched but it's worth a shot right? Quote:

Re: Getting your old job back
It's not going to be 100% guaranteed if you memorize a bunch of bull**** to feed them either, so yeah.
Also, did you put in your two weeks notice? This is important. |

edit: Never mind this isn't going to work and you're probably right there's no way this will work if you forget to add two weeks notice. (Dumb mistake)

Why did you even quit in the first place?

Re: Getting your old job back
Dude I was! I came on time every single day never missed a clock-in always on time, friendly to the customers, friends with the other co-workers and never had a problem with my job but that two weeks notice....
I didn't quit. My parents made me quit because I worked during school nights and I always missed first period class because I'd wake up late and my dad would have to drive me to school angry. Sorry, I ran off at the mouth again. Anyway this is good enough. Thanks everyone. I'm heading out right now I'll tell you how it goes when I get back. *shuts down*
