Passenger ferry sinks off the coast of South Korea. At least 6 dead and 290 missing.

The South Korean passenger ferry 'Sewol' carrying hundreds of high school students on a field trip to Jeju Island suddenly sank and nearly three hundred passengers are currently missing. According to survivors, the students were reportedly ordered to stay put instead of trying to escape as the ship tilted onto its side violently. 6 passengers are confirmed to be dead and about 179 were rescued. As of now, the boat is completely submerged. Originally, officials reported to parents that every student had been successfully rescued, but it was soon revealed that there had been a counting error, and the number rescued was quickly revised to around 174 passengers.

This is horrible. It is pretty awful to imagine this situation. As the articles describe you can pretty much assume that most of everyone is dead.

It's heartbreaking to read the text messages to and from some of the students involved and their families, and horrifying to think how big this is...

Each and every life counts, and I really hope there are more survivors that are rescued. Thoughts go out to those who lost their friends and family as well.

That so called "captain" practically doomed the kids. How can the captain get rescued first, yet not even bother to send out a distress call?? What BS, I totally blame this guy's decision making for this tragedy. Hit a fricking reef in foggy conditions then tried to cover his own ass, then tells everyone to basically wait and die in their cabins as he gets airlifted by a helicopter, ugh. Really sad, the majority of them are just high schoolers. The weather conditions also made it so that it prevented them from being rescued in a timely manner. Horrific situation for sure.

Btw, I read somewhere this morning that the death toll is well past 20 now, they found a group of bodies jammed between an "external structure". Not many can survive like this after such a long time, hope they can still make some rescues.

I didn't even say it as a joke. Ik what it feels like to have a child being, you know what it is.
In Vietnam also occured a tragic similar like that, but smaller, there was like 7-8 (iirc) students going on a schooltrip (I don't remember where), they were all dead because of some reason that I can't remember (true story), and all 7-8 were hard-working students, their parents got terribly suffered.
Ik what it feels like, and I was being serious fyi.
But anyways, back to the facts, what kind of ship is that, doesn't it have lifeboats or something if the captain ordered the students to stay in their room?

I really hope that the captain would be responsible for all of this (he will be anyways)... And I think if I would be the manager of him, I hope I could just kick his ass off and fire him.
I would be feeling like a rotten heart if at least more than 30 died.

Yeah, ik what you mean. There was this one time I was driving a school bus, and then I crashed it, and then like 28-29 schoolkids died, and that was ok. But then later, like 2 more kids in critical condition gave in to their injuries, and then I just felt like shit afterwards.
