what determines if a song is acceptable with no copyright issues?
is it possible to use songs that are from deceased artists?
for example there are versions of fotbb/winter wind etude ingame what made those specific versions usable? as an example could cziffra's version of flight of the bumblee or winter wind be used? it would be sweet to get classical pieces put ingame that were performed by legendary virtuoso pianists instead of our generic versions that are being used whenever someone steps classical music

According to the Copyright Extension Act, typically copyright of a song belongs to the artist for 70 years after the artist's death. After that, the artist's songs would presumably become public domain.

alright that answers my questions then
thanks I just thought about this topic when I saw the new choppin song that got added I still think that cziffra's songs would have made for some seriously sweet 12-13 difficulty stepfiles

chopin is old enough, but cziffra isn't old enough so we need permission from the persons who actually have the copyright on his performances.
