Default Need Pump it Up help (specifically Exceed 2)

I just moved about a month ago and there's a decent Pump it Up machine in the area. I've never had access to a machine within reasonable driving distance so I've only ever played Pump sporadically, and I have a couple questions for people who have a little more experience.

1) I've noticed that when I select a speedmod, what's listed as 2x feels like DDR's 1x and what's listed as 3x feels like DDR's 3x, so it's either going too slow or too fast on the higher BPM songs and I have trouble playing no bar. Is that a machine glitch or is 2x and 3x just that far apart on Pump and I need to just get used to it?

2) I also have a great habit where I can pass like 13's and 14's on CZ no problem but will fail out on 9's and 10's becuse my DDR skill translates into straightforward runs but not twisty stuff. For example, I can FC pretty much all the runs in Dr. M CZ but then mess up the 8th note twisty runs. Are there any good easier charts to build up my twisting coordination or should I just whore something like Dr. M and learn it until I can do all the twists?

3) A lot of the songs feel like the steps are way early. Is that a usual problem or is that my machine being off sync? I noticed particularly on all of the Final Auditions that it was bad and got worse as the song went along.

Thanks in advance.

1) probably just how it is, pump mods do feel different. could be part of the effect of playing on a widescreen monitor, assuming you are. i usually play 2-3x nobar, 4-5x bar. pretty big difference. i know mexi mexi doubles the listed bpm on crazy, not sure if other songs do.

2) x-treme hard would be good practice, csiko's post hard would be good and help learning spins. both are banya songs.

3) pump windows are so huge that i've never really noticed if it was early or late. also, rarely do i play final auditions. if it was getting worse as the song went on, that seems quite bad.

i'll come back to this if i think of anything else.

there are endless possibilities and each songs have their own style. just gotta play them enough to learn them.
