Re: arrow keys
I use the left and down arrow keys, but then I use the 8 and 6 keys on my numberpad... Does that count?
I only use askl for stepmania, but not for FFR.

Re: arrow keys
There are many different ways that people play, using many different keys.
'Basic' would be the one-hand, 3-finger players, who do it that way cause that is how they played all other types of games. Later, some people add a single finger from their other hand to take over for the forth key, usually the down arrow, and the '3-1' style was formed. 'Traditional' 4-finger players use the arrow keys in the standard 2 fingers from each hand, lined up on the arrow keys. I believe this is the most common. As people got better, and many found that their keyboard arrow keys could not all be pressed at the same time, or that having their fingers bunched up started to hurt for fast songs. They then did the 'Spread' style, which is your ASKL or ZX./ which kept the hands apart and in a more comfortable position. This is the second most common overall, but probably the most common in the higher level players. You then have some more varied setups, but a very notable one is the 'Indexes' style, which is the index finger of each hand. This is more of your DDR style player, and more challenging than that of a 4-finger player. My style is one of the rarer 4-finger setups. 'Crossover' style is played with the left hand taking over the Left/Right arrows, while the right hand takes over the Up/Down arrows. Your style is up to you to create what feels best. There are many ways to set it up, but in the end, popularity of a style is not the best indicator. In fact, I am proud to say that my style is uncommon. Re: arrow keys
I used to play with the arrow keys but once I got my laptop I had to move to spread cause the arrow keys are just too small lol.

That's exactly how I play, and this style makes OMW incredibly easy

Re: arrow keys
I thought you played spread on four letter keys in a row
vbnm or something like that ?_? isolating the usage of one hand just for the down arrow sounds really weird to me lol |

Re: arrow keys
Up to only very recently, I used to exclusively play via the true arrow keys. Hey, I almost won an FFR official tourney doing just that...it works if you get used to it. Also, raised keys are preferred over flat keys in this case.

Re: arrow keys
I'm still on arrow keys for the most part. When I do map keys, I usually end up with something odd because of my 'Crossover' style. Left hand being 'FB' (Left,Right) and right hand being 'GY' (Down,Up) or something else and a weird angle like that.
