"Freedom isn't free" isn't a justification for sending my fellow people into war to get slaughtered, sorry. Every time I hear that slogan I want to rip my eyeballs out. It's propaganda and I will never support it. If you respect these people that much for running face-first into death, I'd give them the respect of at least doing it only when absolutely necessary. We haven't fought for our freedom in any sense since WWII. So let's just stick to this:

Happy Veterans Day!

There's only one surviving U.S. WWI veteran.

It's not a statutory holiday in Canada, so we all have classes/jobs to attend. It's just that at 11 AM today, we have two minutes of silence in honor of those who died for our country.

I thought it was a statutory holiday in Canada? Nobody that I know has gone to school today and I don't know if people are working today.

I had to go to school today... half-day. I guess it depends on where you live and how many days your county or city has scheduled for school... cause you need to go to school a certain amount of days to pass, etc.

I don't know if that's a response to me, but in case it is, clarinet's location says Illinois.

I don't believe anyone goes to school today, but some people do still work.

This post was not meant to cause an argument about the war in Iraq or any war for that matter, it was just to say thanks to all of the Veterans. There was realy no need for your comment.

Once again Happy veterans day

I was part of a Veteran's Day assembly at our school; it was a half day. We had a bunch of speakers and all of our vocal groups, our select wind ensemble (I play trumpet), and the orchestra combined to make some of the most gorgeous sounds. It was pretty fun, but soon as all assemblies do, get boring and tired.

Thank you to those who fought for the country I live in.

Wow, we haven't done that since middle school.

A gentle reminder: I have every right to post what I did, and I felt it necessary, because I think the "freedom isn't free" slogan is an insidious poison designed to instill blind patriotism. It's an insult. So my post is very much relevant: if you gave half of a crap about the veterans you're supposedly paying respect to, you wouldn't be so quick to send them to the guillotine in the name of "freedom" so we can fight "terror", a war that will never end (funny how convenient that is). This isn't about our attack, invasion, and slaughter committed against Iraq, nor is it about how wrong the Vietnam war was. I cannot with good conscience support this kind of a cause. However, I did wish a happy veterans' day, so it's not as if I was being a callous jerk. I just don't agree with Party slogans. Wait, were we at war with Eastasia or Eurasia? I forget... Facts and reason are so hard to come by these days.

To any who would be quick to point this out as inflammatory: I take his comment as an insult, and thought it merited further explanation. No more, no less.
