Want to hear about attempts of scoreboard system on Stepmania
I have played with stepmaniaonline.net in the long past. As far as I remember, I have to download Stepmania 4.0 (which I don't like, but 3.95 cannot do it) and enter stepmaniaonline.net in options. Then the game will proceed like creating room, waiting for someone to join, then play together at the same time.
And for some reason the score will be submitted to the server for keeping track too. (where is the explanation of server specs that can receive scores from Stepmania, by the way?) I don't like the waiting aspect, but I do like that there is a place to keep your scores. What I want to ask is how are things now? In Lunatic Rave 2, people play BMS in packs too but the game has integrated scoreboard. There are not many playing, but at least you know you are not alone playing this pack. The system recognize file by it's checksum. If you change just one note it will become a separate file. The server does not know which pack the file came from, but that is not the problem for LR2 since you view the scoreboard in-game, which is already grouped in packs by yourself. Though I didn't start Stepmania in many years suddenly I am wondering is there a system like this in Stepmania yet? It feels good if you make the file and you can know "your customers" or something like that. I am currently in BMS scene for practicing making a song and After Effects skills, and that in-game scoreboard is a killer function for customizable music games in my opinion.
