Default New songs/features! Just suggestions, anyway!

Ok, first of all I love this site, but it needs a coupla things. One thing is that a lot of the songs either have a really vanilla backround movie, or don't have one at all. That's not as important, just something I could see improvement on. The real clincher is lack of songs, and yes i know it's difficult and I know you just added like 3, but I had a few suggestions. Beethoven virus was a great idea, I'd actually been waiting for that one, but another really good one is Dr. M, another Pump it Up song. I'm a pretty avid DDR and Pump it Up player, and that's one of the most popular songs (not to mention one of my favorites.) I'd also suggest sticking some more DDR classic dance songs on (such as Sandstorm, or something). Oh, and I don't know if this would work, but try 'Seven Nation Army' by The white stripes...yes, I know it's a completely unorthadox song for FFR/DDR, but I love that song man! Anyway, disregarding my last statement, just think about it. I know me and some other FFR fans would be glad to see it.

Backgrounds --> being addressed

Songs --> get the authors to send me permission and we can talk about using those songs.

I would give a longer reply but it's 8:30am and I have been up all night

Cheers,

Sandstorm has been beaten to within an inch of death, knocked out, gotten fooled around with while unconcious, and prodded with sharp sticks.

Then fooled around with some more.

Ok, first of all, from a non-DDR standpoint, I am reeeally tired of hearing Sandstorm. It is so over-played it isn't even funny.

Second, from a DDR standpoint, Sandstorm isn't all that great to play. Well, it depends... I've played the DDR version, and I've played a redone version on StepMania where the steps were on the 16th notes. I enjoyed the SM one more, but I still don't think it belongs on FFR.

If you're going to get a Darude song approved, get Feel The Beat approved. Much better song.

A song I would much rather see is Enervate by Transa. I don't know how to get it approved or anything (I know, contact the song's creater), but I just thought I'd throw it out there as far as songs "I'd like to see."

We don't need Sandstorm.

You are pretty much confronting this the wrong way. You'd basically have to go through the record label first before even considering talking to Darude. Essentially, you would need two permissions to use a licensed song and most likely you will have to pay royalties unless you can cut them a very, very, very good deal. It isn't as easy as you think. Even if we got the song for free, there would probably still be a massive number of contracts involved detailing the rights and properties we would have with the song. People seem to think it's just a process of "Hey Mr. Darude, can we use Sandstorm?" and Darude just says "Why certainly!" It just isn't that easy. Record companies are stingy and protect their artists like bodyguards cause that's where they make the money and usually if no money can be made off of a deal, the record business will want no part of it. The artists are contractually obligated (almost "owned by" in some cases) to the record company so rights are not 100% completely up to the artists themselves. Is anyone following this?

And I'm sick of Sandstorm too. Go get some tracks by Kreo or Roc Project.

How long is the ACTUAL ORIGINAL Sandstorm?

Cause, you can use 10-15% of it without rights.

I think.

I'll check tomorrow, I hope.

In other words, we can have like a 3 minute clip of ANY AMARA song. So long....

I'll check though.

I'd be happy to make a SotN's notes version.

This is the problem with nearly all big artists and labels being on FFR. This is the case 99% of the time. your mileage may vary

Case 1

1. artist makes song
2. artist sells the song to label. in exchange they get money and publicity from the label.
3. Label spreads the song around everywhere.
4. FFR kid see songs. wants it on FFR. he asks permission.
5. artist cant give permission, because he sold it to the label.
6. Since label 1)can still make money off of the song and 2) has of fear of putting anything for free on the net because their little Napster-phobia, they automaticaly say "HELL NO."

As bad as this is, getting rights to songs in Japan or Korea *cough*MAX300oranyotherofficialDDRsong*cough*is even worse.

Speaking of Napster-phobia, just recently the RIAA (Recording Industry Association of America) has sued 260 people, individuals, for downloaded music off of programs such as Kazaa and Gnutella. They're suing them for anywhere between $750 to $150,000 per song. Actually, they're suing the person who pays for the internet, usually the parents... and if the children are downloading music, the parents have to take the crap.
