Default Community Keyboard Megapack 1.5 (Submissions OPEN)

we're recharting ckmp1
download pack here
look at spreadsheet and comment (right click the cell in the "claimed by" column and hit "insert comment") what song you want to chart here

do not, I repeat, do not delete the other charts. use an unused difficulty to create your chart, and let me know which one is yours

send all submissions to kommisar@flashflashrevolution.com

During the days of ODI, there was a project called KBMP 1.5. The idea of the project was to take an old pack, KBMP1, and rechart a majority of the songs. This allowed people to compare charts and see the changes in how people approached charting. KBMP was compiled and released some time in 2004, KBMP 1.5 was completed some time in 2006. 2 years doesn't seem like a lot of time, but the differences were pretty apparent. If the differences between 2 years of charting was apparent, I'm interested in how charting has changed in over 10 years.

Welcome to Community Keyboard Megapack 1.5

The goal of this project is to take a majority of the songs from CKMP1, and rechart them. Nearly all of the authors from the original have disappeared from the community, with a small few still hanging around but not doing much with stepmania (Reach, AP, A0).
I think that a project like this would work really well. The SM community currently has a vast number of chart authors, and quite a few are very prolific.

Here's how it's gonna work:

Download the original pack here.

find a song you want to chart, then

View the current spreadsheet and make a comment (right click the cell in the "claimed by" column and hit "insert comment") about what song you want to chart here.

once you have done that

Send your finished chart to kommisar@flashflashrevolution.com

Just like KBMP1.5, we are keeping the charts of the original pack intact. Once the pack reaches finalization, I'll move them around and edit tags to let players know if it's an old or new chart that they are playing.
Also like KBMP1.5, we are making new graphics. Once the pack reaches finalization, I'll make a new thread for graphics.
And finally, like KBMP1.5, we are making new collab cdtitles. Examples:

final thoughts:
I know I have a bad track record with projects like this, so I have my phone set up to let me know whenever I get a submission. I'll also be working on charts too (I've wanted to chart geeks's coup d'etat for years lmao)

A pack banner would be great so we can get people hype. If there's enough of a reaction to this, I'll also look into making an osu!mania conversion for the pack once it's finished.

Some songs have only .dwi files, so you will need to open the song in SM editor, save, and then you'll have an .sm file to use in DDReam if you use that to chart.
LET'S DO THIS, LADIES AND GENTLEMEN.

Reviews

(Cataclsym) Since 1983 - you have got to be kidding me. I played through about 15 seconds in sm, quit out and looked at it in the editor. you have 16th jumpstream going to very obvious 12ths, and the hold usage makes zero sense. how long did it take you to make this? this is very uninspired and quite frankly I cannot use it. Rejected

(Choof) TGTMN - want someone to playtest this for quality control, I think it's alright as is but the song doesn't really tend to make a super interesting chart.

(Krolxp) V ~Rasen Style~ - layering scheme is all over the place. you have some solid ideas, I'll send you a private message at some point detailing what I think could be fixed. oddly though, I really like the [12][34] 32nds, they fit the snares pretty well. Needs fixes

(Ferrari) SOS - cute chart, liked the mininal mine usage and the bursts were tasteful. not entirely sure what they were going to though, so I'll have to look at them with headphones on or in ddream. Accepted

(gameboy90210) Beat of the War - super fun, guitar solo owns. Accepted

(gameboy420) Oi Rock - simple, works well. liked the emphasis on the screams lol. Accepted

(gameboy12345) Mr Larpus - again, great guitar solo. the trills are brutal haha. Accepted

(ilikexd) One More Lovely - a beautiful chart to look at, plays really smoothly, scales really well on rates. Accepted

(James May) Girl Boy Song - weird mine usage, some pretty good ideas presented here but I think it could use a bit of brushing up. Needs fixes

(James May) Untitled Gabber Song - again, weird mine usage. really not liking the intro, but the jumpstream sections are great. Needs fixes

(Leo) Illumination of the Sky - good take on the song, a lot more interesting than the other charts I've played for this song. probably because they're all old rofl. Accepted

(Lofty) Flash in the Night - pretty neat take on the song, the mine usage for emphasis "FLASH" was cool. this is one of the songs so far that I would like a second newer chart, since this is a "dump" take on it. Accepted

(rparty89) Scorpion Fire - think I saw some errors here and there, but I'll message you about them. other than that, this is a great chart. Accepted

(rparty89) Air - felt somewhat uninspired, could have been layered a bit more and patterns changed up. Needs fixes

(rogdor) I Hate Jimmy Page - nice gfx. really fun, loads better than iamme's chart lol. a bit heavy on the minifreezes it looked like but that doesn't matter too much. Accepted

(Kraezymann) Battle Ax - a bit simplistic (not a bad thing), and I think I saw some sections where you missed a few sounds here and there (bit of a bad thing). will send you notes. liked the easy approach though. Needs fixes

(AZVW_2) No 13 - straight forward jumpstream chart. not much to say about it. [color=green]

(kommisar) Rottel-Da-Star - good ol' fashioned kommisar chart, flows really well and I absolutely loved the roll usage. Accepted as fuck

(storn) Canon-D - lmaoooooooo that fucking stream. this chart is hilarious. the only issue I have is the very ending jumptrill. other than that though... fucking rofl. Accepted

(akuma123) Dignity - alright chart. not charting the guitar solo seemed incredibly lazy.. I would accept another chart with the guitar solo. Accepted

(Tsuka) Flash In The Night - very interesting take on the song. jack theory was good, mine usage was neat. the chorus seemed slightly lazy though. but with this chart and lofty's chart, this is going to be an interesting song to play lol. Accepted

(Ferrari) SOS - I say this with the utmost respect; this feels almost like how kil would approach this song. really liking this. Accepted

(Kraezymann) Tightwad - simple yet fun. like battle ax though, I saw some notes that I couldn't follow very well. will make detailed notes. Accepted with fixes

(Kommisar) Seven Eleven - super fun. Accepted

(blaziken) Tokyo Style Speedcore - I've been a huge fan of m1dy for a while now, so when I played this I tried to not let my bias affect how I felt about the file. decent enough, simple approach. could use some more interesting sections, but overall this plays well. I might make a second chart, not sure yet. Accept
