just sayin'
whoever decided it was a good idea to approximate notes by 1/30-second intervals should not be qualified to run a game website

Re: just sayin'
it'd be 6 fps too fast everyone knows that eyes can only detect motion at exactly 24

Re: just sayin'
Maybe Synthlight didn't feel like manually creating the initial conversions back in 2002 at 60fps when the game was first made and was never changed when the first converter was made, and because people love legacy garbage, it was never update beyond 30fps. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Re: just sayin'
I don't think that's a fair attack at all. It had to be at a certain NPS and there was no reason for the original game developers to think people would be hitting >300 bpm 16th notes in the future to the point where frame conversion gets squished and hurts playability.
It'd be cool to upgrade to 120 or 60 FPS for future conversion if the engine could handle it as it'd add a lot of potential for very hard chats. |

Re: just sayin'
There is also a large part of the early engine history that was unable to even play harder/faster files due to the old avmiss glitch. As such, stricter timing windows were likely never looked into before a good chunk of FFR's files were created.
Ideally future engines wouldn't rely on doing conversion in the first place and avoid time-killing the accuracy of notes. Though that comes with the same issue of older files either not having the source files for better playback, or the source files never existing in the first place for the very old files. |

Re: just sayin'
when you consider that it was the same philosophy that led to the old, decaying codebase of a website still in place today, there's a problem
