If any of you remember when LongGone, DarkRazor and myself met up, we played IIDX and PnM. At the time, it was Sengoku and it was online. However, due to some fucked up Konami policies, arcade operators here in Singapore only chose to keep IIDX, Jubeat and other cool and hip bemani games online. PnM is now offline and no longer updated, possibly due to the declining popularity. I really would love to play PnM again if it was online and if I remembered how to adjust the settings.

I know this was three years ago, but we just put out a pop'n music 17 THE MOVIE at GamePlay in Marley Station Mall (Glen Burnie):

You can see more details on Facebook at fb.com/GamePlayMD. We're also having a DDR 2014 tournament this Saturday, so it's a great day to come in and meet other music game players. Let's prove to the arcade owners a music game community still exists here!

EDIT: The machine has been updated to Sunny Park and is now online.

I'm curious if anyone on here owns their own machine. I've been looking at the pricing for the latest ones and found a popn 19 for $1750, which seems like a reasonable price. The only thing that's really holding me back is that I know nothing about caring for an arcade machine, specifically what goes in to maintaining it if things go wrong.

No point buying the cabinet if you haven't a clue on maintaining said machine.

Yeah, that's kinda what I figured XD Hence why I was asking for input :P I mean, I'm sure I could learn, right? There's got to be guides or something around. And I have some connections to some people that live in this house full of arcade machines that I could probably hit up for help if I really needed it at some point.

Based on my own experiences, the key elements of the cabinet are the screen, buttons and hard drive.

If the screen is poor quality, you'll get an effect called 'ghosting' whereby you feel like there's a ghost of the notes in its previous position. Very prominent in IIDX.

If the hard drive is in poor condition or is old, then you'll end up having to load and wait a lot of the time. Dunno if you can upgrade to an SSD for this, lol.

Buttons, self-explanatory.

This is all based on my experience with IIDX. I don't work in an arcade and can't give advice as a technician but this is what I think is important to maintaining the machine.

Oh, and online network is awesome as well.

I'm using an SSD in my cab. pop'n 15+ is set up to use 2.5" drives so it's just a quick image and swap if you want to switch. The biggest worry I'd have with a cab would be maintaining the monitor; I lucked out on getting one with no contrast/brightness/burn-in issues.

Most annoying problem I'm having is not getting any voltage on lights 7 and 8, and on my cab style you can't get to the power distribution board without disassembling everything, so I just haven't bothered trying to fix it since my machine is in an arcade.

Is it in the arcade for storage or is it being played?

It's being played; it's the machine I posted about above. It's currently running fantasia though.

super necro bump goooooooo.

Does anyone even still play this anymore since leonid destroyed the entire game? In any case, I just bought a popn controller with my xmas bonus and got HDD rips for lapistoria and sunny park set up So as soon as that gets here I'll probably start posting stuff once I get into it.

The only issue is that I can't for the life of me figure out how to screenshot it...Whenever I printscreen it just gives me a blank window =/ If anyone knows how to take screenshots, please let me know. I might just have to snap pics of my monitor lol.

I don't think I've ever passed anything harder than a 32 on the old scale (I know the scale changed at some point...maybe fantasia?) so we'll see how it goes.

Make sure to get the right switches and springs. You want them to be 100g each.

I got the Gamo one (new DJDao website), so I would think they did it right. I just got it today, so I'll find out tonight
