I've been playing those games a lot myself, so I've picked up a few tricks that you might find helpful.
Thanks for the suggestion

What about run time? Me personally, I don't think I'd be down to do a run that's hours long, my style is the same as ffr, I prefer shorter bursty stuff.
Sorry for the late reply but i like more technical games and I would like a game that doesn't exceed an hour, such as pokemon puzzle challenge or tetris attack (shoutout to ffrpro21 for getting me into that btw)

So IDK how to do the Ages skip and I've never been able to jump between the hands in the final Seasons boss...in either case, it's worth the time investment to get the sword upgrade. (Unrelated, Veran phase 2 can be hurt with the seed shooter, which is a good thing because she's so damn mobile.)

I still can't figure out how I want to do the second half of Ancient Tomb, but at least getting the Blue Ring is a minor detour compared to the Red Ring.

Heard about this, I didn't watch the very beginning of AGDQ though so, lol.

Still though, banning someone after the first couple hours of the marathon. Pretty smooth, AGDQ, pretty smooth indeed.

What exactly happened anyway?

Was he actually wearing the MAGA hat? And is there actually a rule against it?

I don't see why they couldn't just have asked him to remove the hat and warned him about it if he was compliant.

Didn't see it happen though and haven't looked for a VOD.

Everything I've read and experienced in the past seems to indicate "making sense" is emphatically not something the GDQ staff is known for.

If you're worried about political statements at a charity event (which seems very reasonable), what worse way is there to go about it rather than simply asking politely for it to be removed (at which point banning for non compliance would make sense to everyone)?

Banning him attracts not only so much attention to the matter AND also gives republicans a reason to believe AGDQ staff were themselves making a political statement. Now they have to ban everyone that brings anything politically charged into the event, which seems very excessive, otherwise they won't appear to be impartial.

See you're still stuck on that "making sense" part.

A better explanation is that they're historically prone to over-reacting to the slightest thing and blowing tiny issues out of proportion while looking the other way for other things, often with little rhyme or reason.
Swearing once = banned for 2 years. Wearing a pig suit and molesting the guy next to you every time you're on camera? No problem!

From what's being told by mouth about that issue.

Apparently the person in question has been warned in previous AGDQ's for misconduct.

But that's word of mouth, anyways. Is it true? Fuck if I know, but if it is, at least there's SOME sense of "sense" in their actions.

PvtCb has had run-ins with the GDQ staff in the past for saying some shady things on twitter (joking about a mass shooting -> https://twitter.com/PvtCinnamonbun/s...74980061147136)

The reason he was banned from this marathon still does not make sense. Cyberdemon531 (a friend of PvtCb who was also banned) doesn't have the best reputation in the speedrunning community, but it's for reasons that should be completely unrelated to the marathon. Both PvtCb and Cyberdemon were put on a zero-tolerance watchlist for "death threats on twitter" as they entered the marathon, just as they were last year. This sort of makes sense for PvtCb, but Cyberdemon has never made any such threats. It's clear they are just hopping on the bandwagon in hating Cyberdemon and any of his associates.

PvtCb said he was banned initially for wearing the MAGA hat on stream, but there was proof in the VOD that he did not ever put the hat on his head, it was actually Cyberdemon531. Cyberdemon recorded the conversation they had with staff when PvtCb's badge was confiscated, and PvtCb uploaded the video to his youtube channel and made a pastebin on it -> http://pastebin.com/9fSeDsXu

After the video and the pastebin went viral, PvtCb said staff made up different reasons for his ban just to keep him out. (Damaged PCs in the PC room, unplugging cables, things he claims he didn't do). Cyberdemon was later banned from the marathon for the MAGA hat. http://pastebin.com/52y1dkSa

Nothing else particularly major has happened yet, other than Cyberdemon getting told "Fuck you" in an elevator by someone, being pointed at across the hotel restaurant, and someone leaving a note outside his hotel room door saying something along the lines of "you deserved it".

I've known both PvtCb and Cyberdemon for over a year, and I personally don't think they deserve this kind of treatment. But it's better to wait until more details come out before making any assumptions.
