Trills
I was playing MAX Forever (other songs as well) and it's always the trills that breaks my combos. Any guide/help on doing them?

Re: Trills
Nothing you can do but keep practicing and try to keep your speed constant.

Re: Trills
Trills can be very tricky, but I kind of cheat at trills. I set my autokeys so every trill (right-left, up-down, up-left,etc...) I can do using 1 hand. You can practice them if you want, but my way is easier.

Re: Trills
the best trick is to practice doing the trill for a while when youre not playing the song, like when you listen to music or something, and to play the song over and over again. after playing the song enough, the trill will get lots easier, and playing harder songs will make it easier, or other songs
thats what i do |

Re: Trills
ROFL I love you people. Honestly.. I consider any hotkeying (Double setup or not) cheating.
I found the best way to get patter at repeat patterns is hit hard... Make loud, destinctive hits on each key. That way you can pick up the rhythm and get more of an idea so you can even predict the beat before you hit the keys... Not sure if that makes any sense but it should help. Dont get lazy when hitting the keys. Ram it hard in there . |

Re: Trills
I don't see what's so hard about trills. IMO, just use the index fingers on each hand and alternately hit the buttons.
e.g. left/down trill = left index finger for left arrow, right index finger for down arrow. Doing trills one handed is trickier, though. Also, it helps to know when the trills come so you can prepare your hands in such a position. Last edited by bmah; 04-23-2007 at 02:56 AM.. |

Re: Trills
I'm guessing you keep your wrists locked in place and let your fingers do all the trill work?
The key to the trills in Max Forever is in the motion in your wrists. Snap your wrists up and down on two-handed trills. Twist your wrist left and right on one-handed trills. For example, if you're trying to hit Up/Right, twist your wrist left to hit the Up arrow then twist it back right to hit the Right arrow then alternate at a continuous, steady pace. I don't know if that's how everyone else does it, but that's how I do it and I FC'ed Max Forever with 20 goods. Try it and see if it works for you |

Re: Trills
LOL, locking your hands into place is what you don't want to do. I often move my fingers into different positions; in other words, be flexible with your play style. At least that's how I approach it.

Re: Trills
1) Keep your wrists off of your desk, keep 'em in the air for trills (works especially well for Jelly roll blues)
2) Don't hit hard, the harder you hit the slower you are, because it takes more energy to lift your finger back up to begin a second tap. 3) Practice when not playing FFR, on desks, your lap, wherever. 4) DO NOT SHIFT YOUR EYES OVER TO THE TRILL. This is the biggest mistake most people make, keep your eyes centered. Staring at the trill directly will cause you to try and anticipate which arrows to hit instead of reading them, so 9 times out of 10 you'll hesitate on hitting one, and even the slightest hesitation = fail. |

Re: Trills
omg there are trills in max forever?
I never really noticed. The song gets so long I just kinda stop realizing what the notes are and my fingers work on their own. lol |
