Shash, maybe the things that people should be rewarded with if they go to some convention should NOT be songs in the first place. A lot of people here find that songs are the "meat" of FFR, and by only allowing a couple people to access this song, you are kind of taking away something essential. Consider less essential, but equally fabulous rewards (ie. accessories), such as:
- new skins/layout
- new FFR characters
- new features in forums

Things that are considered important in FFR, and should always be accessed (see reason above) include:
-songs
-options such as scroll speeds


Note that for those extra accessories, you will probably need more graphical artists (to draw characters, etc.) and stuff, so spend some time on that.

There shouldn't be new features in forums for people who attend FFR conventions, IMO, but I guess I'd prefer the rest of what you said over what's currently going to happen, even though it would take A LOT more effort for them to add a new skin to FFR than to add a new song.

In reality, it's only a 4 (maybe?) hour drive from NE Pennsylvania to the convention, which is where I live. The only thing is, I can't find another FFR-freak who lives local and is willing to drive the way.

Well, extras such as graphical makeovers are special, and should happen for special occasions. It shouldn't be a regular occurrence, though. :S That would too much work, I'd agree.

You guys will still get your two songs a week, plus special releases on holidays and such. Whether or not we release extra, certain-people-exclusive songs doesn't change that.

Of course songs are the meat of the game, but having access to every song in the game is NOT the meat of the game, and never has been. I really don't get why you guys can't understand that. We're REWARDING the special few for whatever it is they're being rewarded for, not DENYING everyone else. What those people have doesn't affect you one way or another. If you can't bring yourself to think that way, then that's your problem, not ours.

Also, if I wasn't automatically given all tokens because I'm a level admin, I honestly wouldn't care. It doesn't show up in my levelrank, and therefore it doesn't matter much to me. See BB Revenge, which I still haven't FC'd for that reason. I doubt I'd even get all the other non-skill tokens, since they don't really appeal much to me personally anyway.

And bmah: well duh, of course we're going to reward people with things that are important. Wouldn't be much of a reward otherwise.

Give them a skill token that is difficult to achieve.

Example :

Full Combo BB Revenge

OR

Attend the convention.

Immortal: That would make very little difference. Under 10 people can FC BB Revenge. If anything, it'd just piss off those few people who COULD FC it.

I don't consider a new layout or graphical feature much of a reward. Plus, those things take far more work than it takes to put a song into the game.

I can see this from your point of view but he majority of the ffr community is physically unable to attend the convention. It's a $1500 plane ticket to get to your convention. I WILL not pay that for a token and I'm sure that other people see it that way. I might as well post some insane game that everyone wants to play whether it's really fun or not, and everyone wants to play it and then I say, "Oops I forgot to mention you have to be within a 400km (5 hours) trip distance from me or you can't play it." I don't think you guys would be pleased.

For anyone who doesn't want to read that:
YOU GUYS ARE REWARDING PEOPLE FOR LIVING WITHIN 4 OR 5 HOURS' TRIP FROM THE CONVENTION.
If you want to reward people for coming to the convention maybe offer things like shirts and subscriber packages for a reduced price, dont do something you'll get **** for for months to come.

I don't know about a convention token, or how appropriate it is to reward people for going at all. Personally, I think the opportunity itself is reward enough, and I'm not sure it makes sense to be giving rewards out at the convention.

However, the complaints aren't about that, they're about the use of a special song as a reward rather than something else, and that's the only complaint I'm addressing.

It's very constant, very annoying, and to be frank, very stupid. We release plenty of public songs each week, and the fact that people still whine when they can't play yet *another* song that's intended as a reward, to the point where it makes the receivers of the reward feel bad about getting it (happened with VB vrofl), is just disgusting. You are not, have never been, and never will be entitled to play songs that are meant as a reward for others. Get it through your thick skulls.

To be perfectly honest, you guys have as much as say as to what we reward other people with as you have in moderation decisions. That is to say, none at all. I'm tired of this happening every time we release an extra song that isn't easily accessible by everyone (Summer, VB vrofl, and now this), and I'm going to be increasingly less kind and understanding in my responses every time it happens again. If you don't like it, deal with it, and don't make it worse for the people who we're rewarding, because then you're not just whining, you're being a jerk too.

That's the point though, you'd still be rewarding people for showing their support for the site, but for those who are truly dedicated enough, they can still get the token. Yeah it probably would piss off the few that could FC it, but I think it seems fair that they should get something for showing their support. This way the tokentards couldn't bitch too much about it, because while it would be incredibly difficult to attain; it would still be possible.
