Re: How old is too old to play DDR/ITG?
Too old = when your mental stamina can't keep up. You can ALWAYS play easy songs, but eventually I think you run into fatigue issues and working memory and reflexes start to diminish.
Also this would be, on an individual level, if you just know you've got other shit to do, or lose the buzz and motivation knowing you have other things on your plate. That being said I know some Worms Armageddon players who haven't stopped playing in nearly 20 years, daz nutso. Just keep enjoying it while it's enjoyable and not taxing on your life in any notable way. I think sticking with the game is probably a huge booster of motivation and energy levels in general, if you've got a really sharp mind and that rush doesn't end after the song does (optimized thoughts and the created incentive to give it your all), it plays well into the other aspects of life most likely.

When you realize gym is more efficient as exercise and rythm games that use your hands are more fun as entertainment

Re: How old is too old to play DDR/ITG?
I don't really think there is an age cap unless you're physically unable to play. There are a few ITG machines in my area, but the game doesn't really interests me the same way as it once did in my late teenage years.
Also, the ITG community in my area is pretty nonexistent because new things have came out. A lot of the rhythm gamers I'm friends with like to play iidx, piu, osu standard, etc. The ones I know of who still play have their own private machine. Personally, I'm probably never going to contact those people because I find the idea of strictly wanting to visit someone's house just to play a arrow smashing game kind of awkward. |

assuming that biotech won't allow us to live that long
138 because your bionic legs are 1st gen, starting to wear, and incompatible for upgrading. Unfortunately immortal tech is still some decades away but people still like stompin their feet on arrows. |

Re: How old is too old to play DDR/ITG?
Quote:
your bone actually grows in response to exercise. you don't get taller, but the bone itself adapts. this has been noted in studies of strength athletes/powerlifters/etc -- tendons too. this is how powerlifters can continue to lift huge weight well into their 40s and even 50s. your body is *extremely* resilient. a factor around age 30-35 would be 1. testosterone decline (1% per year) at around age 30, since cross sectional area of muscle DOES influence muscular power and endurance 2. growth hormone decline around age 35 however, both of these can be remedied with HGH therapy and TRT. there are other benefits but they aren't relevant to this discussion but yeah, assuming hormones don't tank or anything, the body survives a lot of shit. |
