Regarding missing scores.
FFR Community,
On April 9th, Velocity made an error in a script which resulted in a large amount of valid scores being dropped from the database when they should not have. The only scores affected were those where the combined “Perfect + Good + Average + Miss + Boo” were greater than the amount of notes in the song. The exact problem was that “Boo” should not have been included in this check. AAAs and incomplete scores were not affected by this mistake. The following scores will be able to be automatically recovered: • Complete database backup made on October 24, 2014 • All scores recorded in the past three days • 10th Official Tournament dashboard scores • Saved replays Additionally, we will be able to manually recover any scores submitted to the Score Recovery Form. These steps will restore a large portion of the lost scores, but will not account for any scores recorded between October 25, 2014 through April 6, 2015. If you are planning on submitting scores from before October 2014, please consider waiting until the backup has been restored. We will be updating the front page when the restoration has been completed. Last edited by Zageron; 04-10-2015 at 02:40 AM.. |

Re: Regarding missing scores.
All around this was handled as well as it could be IMO, it's just an error occured without testing beforehand it would seem, and irreprable damage occured. No ones response after that fact on the administrators end seemed incorrect. I am happy with the way this was handled, it is unfortunate more could not be recovered, and it's also good not everything was affected. You guys should find a dynamic backup method that does all of the things you need, more frequently than just back to october. Well handled staff, no hate on the outcome, it is what it is, (Rip 428 tier points)

Re: Regarding missing scores.
To me, I just want this site stable so it doesn't feel like dial-up is all.
6 months down the drain is ouch though. |

Re: Regarding missing scores.
welp my scores are fucking wrecked beyond belief with no chance of recovering them. I pretty much used R^3's inside image uploader to show all my scores, and always forgot to include a replay.

Re: Regarding missing scores.
Just going to come out and say it probably half of FFR's active userbase was just lost.
Not saying that the forums won't change, there will probably still be about the same amount of people on here, but there will be a vast change in the amount of people that play FFR now because they either didn't take the time to whore out AAA's on easier songs, or don't want to put in the effort again to get all the noteworthy scores that they used to have that weren't AAA's but included a boo. At least, that's my hypothesis anyways. |

Re: Regarding missing scores.
The one important thing is we're all as good as we are at this game. We can, or should be able to re-accomplish or 1-up our scores, except the fluke runs probably.... But we didn't literally lose skill from this so it doesn't matter gigantically.

Re: Regarding missing scores.
I never really focused on AAAing easier songs, probably still won't, might go through again with songs from 70-94. Main thing for me is that almost all of my best scores have replays because if I get a good score there's literally no reason for me to not save one
If the userbase shifts to people who genuinely enjoy playing the game for what it is rather than a bunch of numbers such as avrank, to be frank I wouldn't mind I mean yeah I'm kinda miffed that I lost a bunch of scores but I don't really remember which ones were half decent that I don't have a replay for and would be hard to replicate so again I don't really care about that. What matters is that this accident situation was dealt with as well as possible, and it's our responsibility to determine what comes of it. Personally I'm not just gonna drop everything and move some other completely unfamiliar rhythm game just because of this tl:dr To quote forrest gump "shit happens", so my approach to this is kind of like "it happened, suck it up and move on", not in a condescending way but y'know it's not like we can do anything about it. How each person reacts to this shows their inner character more than they'd think Last edited by Deidara837; 04-10-2015 at 01:53 AM.. |

Re: Regarding missing scores.
so step it up and get new better scores, as well 6 months was lost, not 10 years, 10 years would be a substancial historical loss. 6 months is meh, could have been way way way way way way way WAYYYYY worse

Re: Regarding missing scores.
THAT BEING SAID
You should find an entire list of screenshots and raw scores of historical charts and commonly cheated upon charts for FFR before this all went down over in the Suspicious Scores Thread. Not sure how much you can salvage out of them though. Amazing how I remembered just now. Last edited by gold stinger; 04-10-2015 at 02:02 AM.. |

Re: Regarding missing scores.
Actually it's this post in particular. There's a couple more after it as well, but at one point, I stopped taking screenshots of the leaderboards.

Re: Regarding missing scores.
Though I have to ask...there was no backup made before making a site change with potentially catastrophic consequences if done incorrectly? :/
