Eschatology by 無力P (recommended by XelNya)

1. Eschatology
2. Mephisto
3. GravitoN
4. Forest Mystique
5. HypnoSpirA
6. Iris
7. Existence
8. Epimetheus
9. Hour of Execution
10. Catastrophe
11. Another EdeN

It does the job I guess. I'm really not fond of vocaloid vocals but they aren't as much prominent as I originally thought. They are present in about half of the songs. The symphonic elements are the best aspect of the music, and they get mixed with more glitchy effects here and there. When there's metal riffage (HypnoSpirA or Catastrophe), it's even better. Finally, you have Existence, a typical above average brostep song that feels out of place.

My rating : ★★★★★★☆☆☆☆

Sorry for the short rushed review. :s

To be honest I kinda liked the curve ball that was Existence. First time I heard it I was like "WAIT THERE'S DUBSTEP ON THIS?!" But it's really well done. I'm kinda surprised you didn't even mention the first track. I also can't even pick a personal favorite off this album.

Re.sort by Sora (recommended by Ohaider)

1. Pause
2. A Caminho do Mar
3. Revans
4. La Cathédrale Engloutie
5. Traces
6. Line
7. Fold Air
8. Etude:Diagonal
9. Rayuela (ii)
10. Satelite Towers

Organic glitchy goodness from Sora (birth name is Takeshi Kurosawa - not to confuse with the clothing line Takeshy Kurosawa). The type of music you can put as subtle background noise. When you listen to it actively, it's rewarding due to its complexity. It therefore creates an interesting duality. The more active songs are slightly better and more engaging. The sudden stops in Pause are demanding and the grinding sound effects in La Cathédrale Engloutie hurt by their loud resonance. Ravuela (ii) and Traces are the most rhythmic songs (thanks to the jazz drumming) and at the same time, are the best of the album.

My rating : ★★★★★★★★☆☆

3. Take the Power Back
4. Settle for Nothing
5. Bullet in the Head
6. Know Your Enemy
7. Wake Up
8. Fistful of Steel
9. Township Rebellion
10. Freedom

Me : Oh man, why did the randomizer pick this one ? It's been years since I've listened to it in one shot. I guess I can write a short review and give out a strong rating. I could justify this with the nostalgia factor anyway. *press play*
Myself : Wait, are you sure you want to review this ? You could skip it.
Me : What do you mean ?
Myself : ... You could just, pretend you never picked it and tell the randomizer to chose another one ?
Me : That's not how it works and you know that.
Myself : Do you really think people trust you about the randomizer thing ?
Me : ...
Myself : It's not like they were spying on you. spoiler!
Me : I know, don't put pressure on me ! I need to think about this. I'll catch up with you later. *calls I*
I : Hi ?
Me : I, it's me.
I : Who Me ? I don't know any Me ? Is this a joke.
Me : No, I, it's me, Me !
I : Oh hi Me ! Sorry, I thought you were somebody else. Why do you call ?
Me : I need your advice. I need to review an album today and I don't know how to put things in words. I really doubt myself on that one.
I : I see. What's the album ?
Me : Rage Against the Machine.
I : Which one ?
Me : Rage Against the Machine.
I : What did Myself told you ?
Me : To skip it.
I : ... Well, you know the 7-days rule. Unless it's a recommendation by someone who received a review during the previous week, you NEED to review the album. Who recommended it to you ?
Me : Yo man im awesome.
I : Thanks.
Me : That's his user name.
I : ... Oh. Ok, let me check the history for a minute... His last one was Dream Theater. That was 3 weeks ago. You need to review the album, it's indisputable.
Me : ... Crap.
I : I know.
Me : Dammit, I don't know if I should do this anymore.
I : What ? You can't give up now, you already at your 58th review, it's going well !
Me : What a bullshit statistician you are. There's more than 300 hundred to go. You know that. Stop manipulating numbers. That's not helping us.
I : Us ? Nah, I'm not helping you on this one. I'm the guy that manage the spreadsheet, add the covers, the tracklisting. You know, the bullshit statistician...
Me : I don't want to make this alone, what if somet...
I : Goodbye ! *hangs up*
Me : Hi ? Are you still there ? ... Shit, I didn't need this, not today. *raises head* Day Fifty-Eight - January 27th, 2014. I'm late, again. I need to find a solution to this.

*Minutes later*
Myself : So what did he told you ?
Me : He said that you should be doing the review.
Myself : Fuck you, I won't do what you tell me ! I've never done reviews so far ! YOU do it.
Me : Nah, I'm taking a break. You were the one proposing me to skip it. Remember ? Line 2. Why don't you give it a try yourself instead ?
Myself : I've never said that !
*Us and We suddenly enter the room*
Us : Hey what's up guys !
We : Yeah did we miss something ?
Us : Oh I believe we did ! ... Wait, is that a microphone on the wall ? Somebody's spying us !

Day Fifty-Nine - January 28th, 2014
ŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻ

塊フォルテッシモ魂 (Katamari Fortissimo Damacy) by Various Artists (recommended by omega_grunt666)

1. Katamari Nah-Nah (ナナナン塊)
2. Katamari on the Rocks - Main Theme (塊オンザロック~メインテーマ)
3. Overture
4. The Moon & the Prince (月と王子)
5. Fugue #7777 (フーガ#7777)
6. Lonely Rolling Star
7. Walking on a Star! (ステキ星のさんぽはステキ)
8. Katamari Mambo (Katamari Syndrome Re-mix) (Katamari Mambo~塊シンドロームMix)
9. You Are Smart
10. Gin & Tonic & Red Red Roses (真っ赤なバラとジントニック)
11. Wanda Wanda
12. Que Sera Sera (ケ・セラ・セラ)
13. Angel Gifts (天使風味の贈り物)
14. Roll Me In (カタマりたいの)
15. Katamari☆Stars (カタマリ☆スターズ)
16. Cherry Tree Times (さくらいろの季節)
17. Lovely Angel (ラブリーエンジェル)
18. Stardust Fanfare (サターダスト・ファンファーレ)
19. The Last Samba (さいごにサンバ)
20. Katamari of Love - Ending Theme (愛のカタマリ~エンディングテーマ)
21. Katamari March Damacy (塊マーチ魂)

Gonna make it quick, I'm working on some stuff right now. Just gonna say that this is probably one of the best video game soundtrack around. Along with the Silent Hill OST, it's one of the few I can listen out of their context.
It has a lovely distinctive sound, extremely catchy and the melodies are wonderful. It's extremely diverse and borrows elements from a ton of different genres and somehow make it work with a distinct signature. Some of the songs are definitely better than others : Katamari on the Rocks, Lonely Rolling Star or Que Sera Sera, but it's mostly consistent from start to finish. The perfect complement for an innovative video game.

My rating : ☆☆

Since I see you already enjoy Madvillainy, can you replace that with:

Philip Glass, Uakti - Aguas da Amazonia

thanks, keep it up with the great reviews!

Whoop, found some more.

* Tool - Lateralus
* Tool - 10,000 Days
* Sharpnelsound - OTAKUSPEEDVIBE [SRPC-0030]
* V.A. - Dark Side [DCRPS044]
* V.A. - Princess Ghibli - Imaginary Flying Machines

Also, could you replace "Tsubame: 13 Japanese Birds Pt. 12" with:
* Pantera - Cowboys From Hell

Day Sixty - January 29th, 2014
ŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻ

Brave New World by Iron Maiden (recommended by Hakulyte)

1. The Wicker Man
2. Ghost of the Navigator
3. Brave New World
4. Blood Brothers
5. The Mercenary
6. Dream of Mirrors
7. The Fallen Angel
8. The Nomad
9. Out of the Silent Planet
10. The Thin Line Between Love and Hate

I haven't listened to Virtual XI or The X Factor yet, so, it's like they never changed vocalist at all. Brave New World feels to me it was made after Fear of the Dark...
One thing for sure, they don't have the same energy as before. It's less explosive and spontaneous than their first albums, but is a bit more mature and balanced. I felt they were more influenced by different genres over the years. Some of the songs, Out of the Silent Planet and particularly The Mercenary, are extremely repetitive. I could name Blood Brothers and Dream of Mirrors as some of my favourite Iron Maiden songs.

ŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻ

Empty the Bones of You by Chris Clark (recommended by Crazyjayde)

1. Indigo Optimus
2. Holiday as Brutality
3. Empty the Bones of You
4. Early Moss
5. Tyre
6. Tycan
7. Wolf
8. Slow Spines
9. Umbilical Hut
10. Farewell Track
11. Sun Too Slow
12. Gavel (Obliterated)
13. Gob Coitus
14. Betty

Maybe listening to Clark's discography in reverse was a bad idea. I've started with Totems Flare around 2010, and I really liked the unique dark vigorous atmosphere. Then I listened to Body Riddle and was a bit mildly disappointed, because I was expecting the same sound. But I still need to listen to it again, to give it a proper and fair listen. Then, Crazyjayde recommended this album thinking that maybe I could like it...

I did like it, at times. It's more quiet and restrained than I was wishing. The ambient sections are nice, but by no mean extraordinary. His strength, or what makes Clark's music interesting, is the way he can create downbeat feelings with intricate and complex compositions. Although, it's present at times in the ambient tracks (Betty for example), it's more evident in the most rhythmic tracks : Holiday as Brutality, Gavel (Obliterated) and Gob Coitus. Btw, Gob Coitus was accompanied with a very interesting music video - and on a side note, there's a parallel to make with Herr Barr, same theme (animal vs human) but treated differently.

My rating : ★★★★★★★☆☆☆

Please add Morning Phase - Beck to the watchlist.

If I'm correct that goes to the shitlist after my next album choice review.

It depends, I always take the first album in the watchlist to put it the shortlist (that would be Big Star - #1 Record), unless you tell me an order.

Big Star - #1 Record
Big Star - 3rd
Big Star - Radio City
Earth - Earth 2: Special Low Frequency Version
My Bloody Valentine - Isn't Anything
Big Black - Songs About Fucking
Neutral Milk Hotel - In the Aeroplane Over the Sea
Nick Drake - Pink Moon
Andrew Jackson Jihad - Knife Man
Beck - Morning Phase

Earth - Earth 2: Special Low Frequency Version
Neutral Milk Hotel - In the Aeroplane Over the Sea (lololol)
Nick Drake - Pink Moon

Big Star - Radio City

If I can just say "Big Star - Discography" then remove the last 3 and put that in between Beck and Big Black

I mentioned this a while ago but it never got added to the OP so I got confused on how this review process works.
