Lol... I pay for a site that I don't even go to anymore. >.> KBO is at so much of a standstill that it'd take a boulder to ripple that water.

Re: KeyBeatOnline.com
If you need more motivation to add new features/files to KBO, I could convert all your files to SM and release 'em.

i dont play kbo for that exact reason: it looks dull. Like, really dull.

Re: KeyBeatOnline.com
In my honest opinion, despite the dullness, I like it because it actually runs faster on my comp and it looks more simplistic and not all blue and old like FFR :V

Thanks for the offer, but we can do this ourselves quite easily with the push of a button.

Nothing.

Re: KeyBeatOnline.com
I think Blast should just put up the UI I did, it's complete enough, and would stop people from complaining about how dull it is.

Currently we're in a search for someone to be a "simfile chief" or something to this effect. This would allow stargroup the ability to work on important features like the difficulty algorithm without being bogged down by simfile projects. |

Games are addictive and drive people to return because of the rewards players feel when playing the game and the goals they are aiming for. A high rank in grand total indicates primarily one particular factor: time spent on the game. It is an irrelevant mechanic that artificially attaches people to the game, similar to the achievement lists for a lot of games on Steam. I don't want people striving for this kind of goal. KBO is a game that is very particular about the way it is designed and structured, and I want people to enjoy and pay attention to that without distracting goals that don't contribute to the game itself. I want the reward to be the enjoyment one feels in the connection between the game and the music, not an artificial title such as "grand total."

Re: KeyBeatOnline.com
Yeah we need to talk to you about that. Rofl.
Actually I thought we did talk to you about that. The game needs as many player perks as it can get...grand total included. |

Re: KeyBeatOnline.com
Having all the dumb stats you can think of is what drives a competitive gaming atmosphere. You want people to feel accomplished regardless of what they actually did. If the problem is a stagnant community, you want to bring as many people in as you can. Therefore, you want to appeal to all different kinds of people. Ergo, put the silly grand total score in the game and you'll get more players.
