Re: 10th Official Tournament Fundraiser Discussion
Rough estimates (yeah, I was bored and looked into it) would put the coins on the mid to high end cost of $3 USD per coin, weighing 5 ounces (140 grams) each (also probably on the high end) being shipped from NANJING, 210000 CHINA (randomly selected city near one of the producers of said coins) to DAWSON CREEK, V1G9Z9 CANADA (also randomly selected BC CAD address, since I don't know where Prawn lives) residential address regular UPS worldwide shipping would bring this estimate to around $560 USD + customs costs if there were any, + 90 coins * $3 a piece ($270 USD). That would amount to over $800, which if you think about it 80 available to purchase * $10 minimum/coin would barely cover costs, and you're relying on people's generosity and want of the token songs to fill in additional donations.
Well thought out I must say, you guys really did a good job. (and if I'm wrong on values, feel free to correct with a simple nope or actual values, I'm just speculating on the high end out of curiosity)

Re: 10th Official Tournament Fundraiser Discussion
I will release the final figures when the event concludes, but it's fun to speculate until then. You're thinking in the right direction; The proceeds generated from physical token donations alone are almost negligible. I planned the fundraiser explicitly with this in mind, so that it would be affordable for anyone who wanted to acquire a timeless piece of FFR memorabilia.
If you haven't already included this in your formula, take whatever number you have fabricated and tack on an extra couple hundred for mailing the tokens out to you guys. Canada Post conveniently increased the cost of letter mail by 37% last month. However, as choof alluded to, we broke even at an astonishing pace, and the support from everyone has far exceeded all my expectations! |

If there are a lot of US addresses, ship all the US coins to one trusted person in the US and have them ship them out from here. It'll save you a lot of money in the long run.
If no one else is willing, I'll do it. I have access to bulk shipping materials from my online Pokemon sales. |

there's alot more event staff than just prawnskunk
I'm pretty sure most of the higher ups prefer this stuff stays with the staff, not saying anyone's not trustworthy or anything. |

But it was portrayed as if a single Canadian was having to pay extremely elevated prices to ship these out one by one. The intent of the post was to point out a common sense solution in the event that there was a large number of US coins to ship. The offering in the event that absolutely no one else would do it was to qualify the post, because people that throw out solutions but won't do anything to see them implemented are less valuable than those willing to see them out. |
