Default Stepping Stones 2 [Submissions CLOSED]

Instead of asking, why not just do and see where we go from there?

The Idea

Obviously, the idea stems as a sequel to the first Stepping Stones of Stepmania pack. However, I thought that I would shake it up a bit by making a couple changes, which will be reviewed in the next section.

My opinion of Stepping Stones is that it's meant to be a pack for beginner/expert charters AND players alike. As such, anyone and everyone is invited to chart some music for the pack! I want to cater to the new players in the game, as well as make something that the veterans can use to relax with/play/enjoy/rest. Even if you haven't charted for a pack before, you are welcome to give it a try!

A couple people have already expressed some interest in another pack like this. The last one was a great start; let's make this one even better!

The Guidelines

There aren't too many rules for the pack, but I really want to make certain that these ones are enforced:

This is a keyboard pack, first and foremost!
  • 1. To have a file in the pack, I should be able to pass the main chart, or get very close. I don't have the skill that many players do, and I think that this sets a much lower difficulty bar for new players to worry about. But having said that...
  • 2. You MUST have more than one chart. You can submit as many files as you want, but they need to have at LEAST 2 charts. So for the vets out there - you aren't restricted to making it super easy! And people who only chart for pads can give it a go outside their comfort zone! Sorry, no dump files!
  • 3. Difficulties will be in NPS +FF, so before the pack is finalized I'll go through them and use the leaderboards NPS generator.
  • 4. Take your time, and do a good job. Yes, they will be easy files, and yes it caters to a less experienced audience, but I would still like to see an effort! A nice quality pack that's playable at all skill levels is basically my idea of a perfect pack. I'd really like to strive for that!
  • 5. I'd like all graphics to be 512x160 for the banners and 1280x720 or higher for the background. If you don't want to, or can't make graphics, I'll do my utmost to make sure a set is provided!
  • 6. Gimmicks are okay as long as they are gentle and make sense. And as for song length... let's try and keep it under Marathon length (I think that's below 4:30?).

Submissions are closed!

Current release date: August 15 (approx.)

I wouldn't mind making a chart or two for this. Would harder difficulties be aloud? I actually never downloaded the first one. =X

For sure. I have a few ideas of my own I'd like to try for the pack, too. But again, it's a matter of interest lol

I actually meant to submit something to the first pack and never got around to it. Oops. I'd be open to submitting a few files.

I'd love to do another one considering the last one was plagued with the wrong versions of files and such because of me just trying to release it, but at least it was released lol

I'd be willing to chart for another one. It was one of the best experiences. I have a file that'd be pretty fun to make easier files for in the works, so maybe I'll get a jump on that...

Awww yis ferrari. I really appreciate how you helped get it out at the last minute, even though it was rushed. Hopefully this time you would only have to worry about sending files

I can try to test files. I'd be new to it as well, but oh well.

Gimmicks are okay as long as they are gentle. If there are one or two noticeable stops in the song or BPM changes, then by all means go for it. But don't try and put something to every single glitchy sound in a Terminal 11 song, ya dig?

And as for song length... let's try and keep it under Marathon length. I'll add these up top.

I'm not the best suited for it, but I wouldn't mind playing any of the files / going through them.

1.) I am willing to volunteer as a judge.
2.) I have submitted a file for the pack. The main difficulty is Challenge (Expert for SM/ITG players).
3.) Keep in mind that the foot ratings are on the DDR X (20 foot) scale. The ideal DDR X to ITG ratings for all Singles charts will be posted soon.

How many files are you looking for?

I also have a few files I can submit, hopefully they don't end up being the hardest in the pack (like the first one)

Heehee no worries broski, you can still make them that hard. Just make sure you make the main chart one I can pass

Also DDRNGGin, that's fine and all but if the main chart is challenge and if you have too many easier charts I might have to leave a few out. You can blame me for not making it as clear in the OP, but this is technically a keyboard pack first. Obviously if it's a hard enough pad chart it will be okay, but keyboard is in mind first, cool?

Understood. I'm partially at fault here because I did not ask specifically if it is a keyboard chart pack or not. I'm just truly adaptive to making pad charts because I have been playing DDR for so long; however, I am willing to make future charts either hybrid or keyboard for this pack. Other than this situation, we're cool.
I do appreciate you for the feedback.

Sorry fellas! I have updated my OP to reflect that lol. Keep in mind that a difficult pad chart could be used as an easy keyboard chart too!
