[Bug] R^3 : Song information & selection after a song
Hi,
There is a small problem with the search function. The left selection part and right information part of the song selection menu can easily differ : If you select a song A, then search for a song B and play it, after returning to the song selection, you'll have the song A select on the left menu, but the song B's information will be shown on the right. Example of steps to reproduce : 1- Boot the game 2- Play as guest 3- Search Blooddrunk 4- Play "Blooddrunk [Heavy]" 5- Ctrl + exit to menu 6- Free Space (FFR Edit) is selected on the left and "Blooddrunk [Heavy]" information is shown on the right. The fact that Free Space is selected is because it is the first song in the list, and blooddrunk was the first in the search. If a search gives multiple results, the song played in the search will have its position/index kept, but not the song itself. This leads to some odd behaviour : 1- Boot the game 2- Play as guest 3- Select Cid's The Piano Concerto 4- Search "snow" 4- Play "Counting Snow" 5- Ctrl + exit to menu 6- "Prelude No.7" is selected on the left and "Counting Snow" information is shown. In this case I'm sure "Prelude No.7" shouldn't be selected and is simply selected because it is in the 9th slot ([8]), the same as "Counting Snow" position in the search that was made. Also, if the searched song that is played has its index > the current category song count, no song will be selected on the left (just make a very broad search). One more thing : note that the song index seems to be kept even if you switch category. For instance if you select the first song of a category, and change category, the first song of that 2nd category will be shown in the song information box, though it won't be selected (highlighted) in the left column. Thank you RedSword for such a detailed report. I will get this fixed for the next engine update.

I'd like to add that I see mainly 2 way of fixing this :
1) Have both the song selected on the left and the song information in the right be about the last selected song, pre-search. 2) Same thing, but with the song that was played. IMO #2 makes more sense as the player might want to play songs with similar difficulty afterward (versus for instance staying in "Easiest" category even for high-ranked players). Re: [Bug, Minor] R^3 : Song information & selection after a song
Another problem with the search function @PrawnSkunk (unsure if @ tags are disabled or not on this forum ¯\_ツ_/¯ ) :
1- Search a song name 2- Play the song 3- Exit the song via Exit to menu 4- Search a song via a non "song-name" search category; for instance "artist" (with string "metalj") 5- Play a song 6- Exit the song Notice how the non song-name search (i.e. "metalj") is kept in the search box, but not the first sought string (song name). You could also do 4-6 before 1-3 without changing the result. After a song, if a non-song search was made, the search with the highest category id (or furthest down in the search category drop-down list) will have its search string still shown (you could call it the search box string, but that wouldn't necessary be true if you searched a song by name after having search a song by step artist, for instance); EVEN if having played a song that wasn't in the search (by selecting it via the categories on the left) Last edited by RedSword69; 06-4-2018 at 05:36 PM.. |
