5.2 mag. tremor...
So Marissa and Katie (wife and daughter) just got a good scare when our whole flat started shaking and the dust started coming from the corners of the room... I grabbed marissa, yelled out to katie who was in bed and ran out the front and waited for the 2nd wave ;__;
Neither of them have experienced tremors before, and in this area, the last one was in the early 80's. I know it was pretty weak compared to some parts of the world, but the live news just updated it to 5.5 magnitude and mentioned that it was the worst one we've had in over 100 years. So... Share your earthquake stories here I guess... Just down in Victoria huh?
Glad to hear that you guys are safe 8) I don't think I've ever experienced an earthquake/tremor. I'm not keen on going through one either... |

Re: 5.2 mag. tremor...
It wasn't so bad, my 'dad' instincts kicked in and within about 3 seconds marissa and I were out of the house, katie wasn't far behind xDD
A friend of ours was saying that the last one around here was smaller and in the 80s, my grandparents neighbours fish tank exploded, and a few doorways have been reported to either fit better or completely borked. |

I haven't experienced an earthquake while awake. Slept through all of them.

Living in Taiwan... you don't sleep through most your earthquakes.
We actually just had a 5.something last week at 6 AM. Never have I experienced one with its epicenter as close as it was to you, though |

Re: 5.2 mag. tremor...
Sat through a 6.1 earthquake in San Diego, which isn't saying much, and the recent 5.8 earthquake in Virginia, which I didn't even feel. Still don't want to go through a nasty one.

Re: 5.2 mag. tremor...
The last earthquake that "hit" Toronto, I was getting a haircut. It wasn't much of an earthquake, but the shaking was enough to startle the barber, and force me to have shorter than intended hair. lol

Re: 5.2 mag. tremor...
I've slept through a few 4.0 I believe, not a big deal. But our area is expecting a 9.0~9.7 in the next 50 years. The last one we had completely wiped out Tokyo, and our entire west coast was mauled by 10-25m high waves. (1700)
Not looking forward to that too much. |
