First Official FFR Band
I've got a ton of material written for guitar and currently no band to work the other parts out with, so here's what I'm thinking:
Let's get a four or five-piece band together over FFR !_! I've got about an album's worth of material for guitar in a mathcore metal sort of genre, so I can record the guitars, send the tracks to the drummer (whoever that may be), he'll record his part on top and send it to the bassist, and then the bassist'll send it to the vocalist (if we manage to snag one that doesn't suck)...and then maybe someone can step what we've produced if it isn't shit? This would be a really cool little project for any experienced musicians willing to take part I can play both guitar and keys (been playing piano for about 13 years), so adding synth and stuff wouldn't be a problem on my end Anyone who's legitimately interested, post a video in the thread of you derping around on your respective instrument(s) for a few minutes and I'll see if you're qualified or not NOTE: ANY AND ALL APPLICANTS SHOULD HAVE ACCESS TO RECORDING EQUIPMENT IN THE FORM OF AN AUDIO INTERFACE AND SONAR/PROTOOLS/CUBASE/etc. (for obvious reasons lul) I'm really hoping this takes off, this would be pretty legit Last edited by One Winged Angel; 12-10-2010 at 04:48 PM.. |

Re: First Official FFR Band
I don't wanna put myself on a pedestal or anything, but I can definitely hold my own on guitar...anyone who's comfortable playing in awkward time signatures with good improv skills would more than likely be qualified
If I can't find that though, I can change some of the licks so that they're less awkward to play rhythmically I just want this to happen haha |

I'm -okay- on bass, need to get a new one.
I like to think I'm good at singing, but I probably suck XD so don't believe me on that one.

I've played drums for about ~6 years now. Maybe explain mathcore? Sounds cool but I'm not entirely sure what it is exactly. Is it like hardcore with odd time signatures or something? Because that's pretty freaking awesome.
Don't know how good I'd be though.

Re: First Official FFR Band
Uhm I'll get you some rock band videos and freestyle if I have time, but probably won't happen to monday/tuesday night and I have to convince my sister to record for me since I lack a cam. But yeah I'll give you an idea of what I could do, real set probably won't happen for a bit.
Also: Mathcore = death/metal/black core with odd time signatures ref. Protest the Hero/A Black Rose Burial

Re: First Official FFR Band
yeah matrix, you've got the right idea
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3Gx8A...eature=related posting this just because it's on a separate tab right now and is pretty close to the sound I've got (drop-tuned my guitar like fuccccc) even though the song's in a constant 4/4 yeeeeee both of you guys post vids edit: yo jteh, I could probably break some parts off into an interlude meant for stringed solos that rejoins into the main riffs later |

Win.
Also, I'm not super into Deathcore stuff and I honestly don't think that that would be any fun to play on the drums... PTH on the other hand (who is definitely not deathcore) I could handle. What exactly are you looking for? EDIT: I see... But could you still explain just how metal this will be? haha

Re: First Official FFR Band
definitely not deathcore, more emphasis on melody and rhythm and little to no emphasis on vocals at the moment (that could change depending on who we have to work with on here)
for now, think of instrumental PtH if that helps (animals as leaders might even work as a better reference) it's not gonna be all CHUGGA CHUGGA CHUGGA low end stuff on guitar, there'll be higher pitched 'sequoia throne'-esque riffs and what not Last edited by One Winged Angel; 12-10-2010 at 04:18 PM.. |

I'm about to get a midi controller for my synth, so if you need any synth lines and the like, you can definitely contact me for that

Re: First Official FFR Band
This sounds really interesting, but what are your recording suggesting methods, cause I think recording with a camera will give kinda of a low quality sound.

Re: First Official FFR Band
it'd pretty much have to be a requirement that any applicants should possess or have access to an interface along with sonar/cubase/protools etc.
I'd thought about this prior to posting the OP but didn't stipulate this because I assumed that'd be a given, I'll change it now though, thanks Last edited by One Winged Angel; 12-10-2010 at 04:52 PM.. |
